Simply amazing! Our little town has needed a good doughnut shop for quite some time, and to have one that is a sub station of Cops & Doughnuts, the famous Claire Michigan Bakery, is outstanding! On my first visit, I was greeted with very friendly staff, who were helpful to help me decide what to get. The place is not very large inside, but don’t let that fool you, they have a large assortment of doughnuts, eclairs, cookies, breads, and more to choose from. Get their early, because things do sell out thought the day.
The sour cream cake donuts were amazing! The jelly filled ones also will not let you down! And these are not little donuts! They are big and fluffy and so dang good! Oh and the apple fritters! I have never had a better apple fritter ever!
You can also call them and order ahead for pickup which is great! I am so excited to have this place in our little town!

If you like doughnuts check this place out in Alpena. Great selection of doughnuts and baked goods along with some good coffee. They also sell bags of coffee in store and have a nice selection of baked goods and other items in the shop. Nice way to surprise your family for breakfast!

Major yum! So happy to have a place in Alpena to get doughnuts and baked goods. The doughnuts from Cops & Doughnuts are delicious and fresh. There’s also an array of other baked goods such as cannoli, sweet bread, turnovers, and Michigan products such as olive oil, chocolates, and dried cherries. Great, cozy spot in Downtown Alpena and super friendly staff!

The size was nice, the taste was OK, but I do not know how fresh they were. We had a cream filled eclair and a chocolate covered sprinkle donut. The chocolate on the chocolate-sprinkle donut fell off in large chunks as it was being eaten. The chocolate on the eclair stayed on as I ate it, but the eclair felt a little stale to me as well compared to others I have eaten in my travels.

My first time having cops and donuts. We tried to go on a Saturday and they were sold out by 10am. We tried the next day and got there around 9am and they still had quite a bit left. It was super yummy and very sugary. The man who helped us was so friendly and patient. He took the time to explain what each donut we had interest in was.

OMGoodness! And I do mean GOODNESS! Great donuts and big cookies (all I’ve tried so far but will fix that asap!) Other sweets, of course, but you need to check them out for yourself. But get there early…they tend to go quickly…you don’t want to miss the deliciousness! Sorry, no pictures. Gone in a flash!
