This restaurant, formerly old railroad depot, is located just off the river in downtown Houghton Michigan. We sat outside on the now porch where people use to board the train. We watched the boats and the large lift bridge opening for a large river cruise boat. My wife loved her salad. I had a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The sandwich was good but I would suggest naming it something different because it wasn’t made at all like a true Nashville hot. I highly recommend the onion rings. They are thicker but very crispy. Good food and great atmosphere, I’ll give it a thumbs up.

The people who work there are very nice, friendly, and helpful. But the food is not good. We ordered food to go. The strawberry salad was disappointing to say the least, we ordered two, and both were awful. There was about 1 cut up strawberry in the whole salad, the “strawberry vinaigrette” was absolutely inedible, many of the leaves were spoiled and withered, and I never thought I’d ever say this, but there is simply too much bacon on it. We also ordered two chefs salad, neither of which came with dressing. The “the boneless chicken wings” look like reheated frozen chicken nuggets and they were served with ‘BBQ’ sauce which tasted like ketchup.

Had lunch at the Copper Range Depot and ordered the C&H Panini sans tomatoes. Sandwich and fries were good. The restaurant was quiet with only a few other customers as it was about two in the afternoon. Cute gifts in the gift shop. The only thing that could have been better would have been for the server to ask if I would have like a refill on my water or a box to take home the leftovers.

I always say if I go back to the same place and order the same thing, it’s something special. Love the blackened whitefish, the strawberry balsamic compote was a nice touch. Fresh colorful veggies were appreciated. The cheese curds were not the same old you get most places, very tasty and nicely presented. Go early for best results in my opinion.

We stopped by here for a late lunch (around 2PM) which provided a no wait time/quick service. There was also a nice view of the scenic waterfront from inside. We both ordered two different style of paninis with fries which we really liked. This place is on our list to definitely go again and try out the breakfast menu. The wait staff was friendly, the food was great, and the views from inside and outside were nice. I gave it four stars due to only one experience here and wanting to try more items.

Lots of interesting and tasty dinner options. Everyone in our party loved their meal choice – the one exception was dad who thought the bacon and onion topping on the walleye overwhelmed the fish. I had the shrimp and grits which was outstanding. The grits were amazingly creamy with just enough of a ham based gravy to balance it out. It was covered with medium-sized shrimp. A standout choice. My only nit was that it could have been served a bit hotter. Other choices around the table that were also excellent were the petite filet, Salmon, and the honey mustard chicken sandwich with shoulder bacon.
