This place should be rated much higher than it is. Their brown stewed chicken may be the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth, and the cabbage was phenomenal too. Perfectly balanced spices, tons of flavor, and the chicken was incredibly tender. It’s stewed bone-in, so expect some small bone shards.
This does seem to be primarily a takeout place. The dining area is tiny, and all the tables and chairs were stacked haphazardly against the wall. I did come in less than an hour before closing, so maybe that was why. The service was fine if unenthusiastic. The quality of the food more than made up for it though.
Everyone should try this food at least once, even if they don’t think they care for Jamaican food. Phenomenal seems like an understatement.

Food was good and the wait time wasn’t bad 20 minutes for 4 dinner plates and two sides. The plantains were great! The Mac was pretty good. And all of the meat with our meal was very flavorful.
My only knock is the portions for the price at $17-$18 per plate there was a lot of rice but not a whole lot of meat.
My wife and I split a slice of carrot cake which was phenomenal. I’d go back just for that!
All in all good food but a bit of a steep price tag, worth making visit.

First time trying food is very delicious. I travel to Jamaica very often and this food has a very good authentic carrebean flavor. Best in the Waldorf LaPlata area. When I eat jerk you can tell the deference between the Spices.

Now I have tried all the Jamaican spots and this one right here is the place to go!!! Now the pictures here are curry goat (yellow) and oxtails both with cabbage and rice and peas. And the beef patties….scrumptious!!! This is a must place to visit if you are near Waldorf, MD
I also tried the strawberry cake with Henessy…..a must try if you like Henessy. But the carrot cake is my favorite! And there are all of the classic Jamaican drinks if you are missing a taste of home, including sorrel juice and dragon stout

Cool Running is the best place to dine for delicious authentic Caribbean dishes in Charles County. And I mean the best place for true authentic curry chicken , which is my favorite.

My first time visiting Cool Runnings and I’m so glad I found this place. Ordered Stewed Chicken with cabbage and yellow rice. The stewed chicken is so tender and flavorful, the cabbage is seasoned just right and the rice soaks up the juices from the chicken and all of it goes so well together.
My friend ordered Jerk Chicken and Curried Goat. He also got a side of Callaloo. He demolished it all!! He’s not talking – too busy eating lol!
We also ordered lemonade and two Bahama Mamas. Do yourselves a favor and hit up this spot – you will not be disappointed!!

I love this place and the food! The service is great too! My faves are the oxtails and curry shrimp. Everything is fresh, made to order and well worth the wait. If you live in the Charles County area and looking for authentic DELICIOUS Jamaican food.. definitely put Cool Runnings on your list to try, you won’t regret it❤️

I had the pleasure of going to Cool Runnings Eatery today and everything was delicious!!!! It made me feel like I was back in Jamaica again. I met the owner, a very sweet Queen. I can’t wait to come back. My Jamaican patties, coco bread, and Jamaican Pineapple soda were amazing!!! I’m coming back for stew, rice & peas, mac & cheese, ox tail, and curry chicken. I can’t wait. I’m so happy to have this business in our area.
