The food was okay. I ordered a Chicken Tikka masala and it came in red color, which is weird. The naan bread was good. On our way from Cheyenne to salt lake City, this was one of the very rare Indian restaurant along I-80 highway. They also offer overnight parking which is nice.

Mediocre at best. Rice they use here aren’t the good basmati, rather it’s cheap jasmine kind. Menu is limited, but prices aren’t very reasonable. With 80+ outside temp, there isn’t proper air conditioning and with attached kitchen’s heat, it can hotter. Only one measly window air conditioner was bringing in hot air. Best thing about this place is its location and proximity to pilot truck stop. If you’re craving for Indian food, don’t mind walking, paying higher price..this may just serve you well. Owner must consider upgrading the food quality as well as comfort level for dine in customers.

First of all, it was unbearably hot. They had a window unit AC sitting on a table blowing the hot exhaust into the restaurant, basically creating a space heater in an already hot space. Going outside was such a huge relief. The prices were HIGH each dish was a few dollars more expensive than restaurants like India Palace, yet without the selection, quality, atmosphere, and service. I understand where the good reviews are coming from, because if you haven’t tried Indian food, you will like it, because Indian food is good, but this is not good Indian food. Save your money, and drive down to Utah to enjoy something better, and cheaper.

Good food but beware: no menu and high prices! We went in to try the place out as we were passing through Evanston. They had no menu, just mentioned three curries they had. We got the food and then I asked the lady running the place (she was the only one there) if they had anything really spicy. We said that the curry was good, but we liked spicier food, and if we came back through this way we’d like to try that. She said yes and a few minutes later brought a small dish of something for us. Within 5 minutes she had brought four more small plates of food, some of which were good and spicy! We thought nothing of it until it came time to pay. For three people: $55! Apparently those were not sample plates: they were charged as full entrees (even though they were tiny tea-cup-sized plates). Maybe the lady didn’t understand us or we didn’t understand her, but $55 for three people? REALLY? The food was good but we won’t go back.

2019 UPDATE: In 2018, I gave this place a 2-star rating. It has improved dramatically since then!

The ambience and smell are more like what I would expect from an Indian cafe. But it might still benefit from a little background music.

The food is much better than the oily mess served in 2018 – with good spices, tender meat, and sauces that are light on the stomach as you would expect – however, the butter chicken contained an excessive amount of bone fragments and cartilage.

They now have menus with prices that are still typical for what you’d see at most good Indian restaurants.

When they ask you if you want the food mild, medium, or spicy, you should know that they have toned down those levels to American tastes – whereas typical Indian “medium” would burn the taste buds off most Americans. (That’s not a problem – you should just know their spiciness scale is shifted toward the mild American side.)

I’m glad to see the restaurant has tunred things around, and I hope they’ll see a lot of success here – Evanston needs this good Indian restaurant! Compared to other Indian restaurants, I would give this place 3 stars. Compared to other Evanston restaurants, I would give this place 5 stars! So I’ll take the average and give them 4 stars overall.

OLD 2018 Review

If I were only comparing this to other restaurants in Evanston, WY, I might give it 4 stars because it is Indian food – yum! However, of the 50+ Indian restaurants I have tried, this one would rank in the bottom 2.

The restaurant is clean, but it smells like dishwater instead of Indian spices.

Instead of playing Indian music for ambiance, the only sound was the incessant beep of a smoke detector with a low battery.

I liked the spices and the tenderness of the meat dishes, but this was the oiliest Indian food I have ever tried – it was the first time I felt that an Indian meal felt heavy on my stomach.

The prices were appropriate for great Indian food, but this was not great.

I hope this new restaurant can make some improvements so that it can stick around. I really want it to succeed! To do that, they”ll probably need to improve their online marketing and outdoor signage so travelers/truckers stop there more frequently. If the buffet is gone and they don’t have menus, they could also invest in a chalkboard to list the dishes of the day with their prices. If they can improve the smell, add some Indian music, and cut down on the oil, I’d be happy to return – paying those prices and improving this rating to 4 or 5 stars.

Total new experience for my family. The food was freshly cooked. The flavor was amazing. The amount of food served from appetizers to dessert was great. The one-year-old, two-year-old and eight-year-old all liked it too.
If you haven’t tried them out, give them a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Had a really good late lunch, and the staff was very accommodating! They offer many options for vegetarians and the food is very good. I ordered the Tikka Masala with Paneer and my husband ordered the lentil dish, Dal. Food was hot and fresh!

It’s not what you expect from the outside, and honestly if it weren’t for such good reviews, we never would’ve considered it. The location seems to be a revamped gas station, but seemed closed minus the open sign on the window. We pulled up and I walked to the door to see if it was open, and there was someone to greet me.

Food is very good, and you’ll leave satisfied, but the atmosphere could use some help. The floor was very sticky and while the bathroom wasn’t bad, it wasn’t the cleanest. Otherwise tables and silverware and plates were polished.

Stay stay stay! So nice to have new food where we live. I love Indian food. Prices are very good. The 2 working that night were good cooks and very attentive anf nice. I recommend some to go menus to be handed out though. I don’t care how fancy they are.

Like the reviews before me, this place is in a converted building that looks like nobody is there…BUT, once you get inside it’s warm and inviting with delicious smells, a simple menu and rich dishes! A very kind staff with manners will ensure your meal is enjoyed. Spice level is mild, medium and hot; be prepared for the medium being a little more than you expected! And the Naan was just right 😉
