Looks are so deceiving! For a place so far off the beaten path, I was really expecting something special. Their pork bbq was especially NASTY I kept trying nibbles but after the 3rd attempt I concluded that it must be bad meat. Hubs tried his and agreed so we left it alone! The brisket was decent but very salty. All of the sides are store bought so that’s a nope from me. I forgot to add the owners were incredibly rude while I was paying my bill.

Good, tasty Lexington-style barbecue. Even my picky eaters ate their food and loved it, so they must be doing something right.

Fantastic brisket and ridiculous amount of ribs! The meat melted in my mouth. Delicious food, wonderful service with unbeatable prices. Perfect for families looking for a great deal!

We used to really like this restaurant, but it has gone downhill. Service was great, but you cannot leave a tip on your credit card, so be sure and take cash for tipping, if you go. We ordered chopped barbecue and the flounder fillet, and the flounder fillet was just mush. The chopped barbecue had a lot of gristle and bone in it. We just were not at all impressed. The place has been around for 40 some years, it might be time for an upgrade.

It was decent but my chicken was super dry and the potatoes tasted like they came straight out of a box (and I like boxed potatoes, but not these ones.) My pie was top notch and the waitress was sweet. My dining partner had some delicious bbq and I enjoyed the hush puppies. The location is really cool and the atmosphere is great. I hear it just changed ownership so I will give it another go. Tip: take cash, you can’t tip on your card.

Not very good. BBQ & slaw were mushy & slaw was soupy. Hushpuppies were good but the BBQ had no taste. Service not very good either. Half the booths were empty but not cleaned & people were standing around wanting to sit in a booth which we also wanted so when they finally cleaned one after we asked if they would, we moved. All in all not a very good experience. It has been years since we have eaten there & it’s a far cry from the Cook’s Doug opened. Sorry! The owners were nice but it’s the food you go for. PS. My daughter said they fried chicken it’s delicious so I guess if we go back I’ll try that. She said you have to wait a long time to get it but it’s really good!

New owners have taken the food to a new level! Excellent service and all the food was great. Everyrhong is fresh not frozen and fried. Hand patty burgers cooked over flame, traditional pit cooked Lexington style bbq. Best ribs in town hands down. Chicken was pit cooked and moist. If you aren’t eating here you are missing out. New post 12/2/18 If your last experience here was 2 years or longer ago then you owe it to yourself to try it again. I promise it’s a different experience now. This has become a weekly dining experience for my family. Lexington needed food like this!

Been here a few times with other bike riders. The food is inexpensive and good. If it gets busy, it can be slow. If you don’t know where you’re going, finding this place is tough. It’s at the end of a dead end street off the beaten track.

The food is fantastic. BBQ is juicy, slaw is the best, hush puppies are addictive. The restaurant itself is very old but it’s kinda cool to know they’ve been serving this great food for a long, long time in this location. We do go to other BBQ places and like what we get. But when we go back to Cook’ s we always say, this place is really the best of them all. Attentive wait staff, generous portions and great food. What more do you need?
