Great food, we came over after hiking Savage Gulf. I asked the ladies at the counter why it was different from when I was here before and they said it burned in summer 2023 and was rebuilt. It still has the great food I remember from last time I was here in spring 2023 but the rebuild made it stand out and he atmosphere is so much better!
Our food was great. Highly recommend and worth the drive.

We had a party of 10 at the Cookie Jar Cafe on a weeknight. Members of our party have ate there in the past and said the food was really good. We decided to all go there for dinner after letting the kids play at the splash pad that afternoon. Either the food prep changed or there was a different cook because the food wasn’t very flavorful and wasn’t prepared very well.

I had the grilled meatloaf with a loaded baked potato. Something about the meatloaf did not agree with me. It was dry and tasted like burger and tomato paste. I actually put my mashed potatoes on top to give it some flavor. I wasn’t a fan. The loaded baked potato was pretty skimpy. They put a piece of bacon in the center and a piece of sliced American cheese. I didn’t get sour cream with it either.

I do have to say that I am a fan of their cornbread muffins. I like southern cornbread, not sweet cornbread. My husband and kids are totally opposite. They like sweet cornbread muffins.

My nephew ordered the chicken and dumplings with fries and macaroni and cheese. He did not like the flavor of the chicken and dumplings. He liked the fries and macaroni and cheese though. He said that was the best macaroni and cheese he’s had in a while. My granddaughter also liked the macaroni and cheese a lot. She ordered the kids macaroni and cheese with macaroni and cheese as her side.

My husband ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. He ordered his with lettuce, mayonnaise, and ketchup. He said his burger was a little dry and it wasn’t medium. He liked his fries and the rolls we received with dinner.

Another member of our party had the sweet tea fried chicken sandwich with potato salad. She’s ate at the Cookie Jar Cafe many times over the years. She always orders the same sandwich because she likes the flavor so much. She said her chicken was full of flavor and the breading was really crunchy.

My granddaughter and my uncle both ordered a slice of strawberry pie. They both really liked it. My granddaughter was raving over the huge strawberries on the pie. They could only eat half of their slices of pie because it was so rich. They took them home and ate them for a late night snack.

We also bought other desserts to go. We bought a regular brownie, two brownies topped with cookie dough, and a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting. The brownies were cut into large pieces. My niece cut hers in half because it was too rich to eat all at once. My husband ate them for a cupcake and said the frosting was delicious.

The views from the porch and the windows were beautiful. It was of the mountains. The waitress was very nice and patient with us. She did offer a few suggestions when we were undecided. She was also very attentive and filled our glasses and mugs when they were low.

Some food was good but some needed more flavor. Great service and beautiful scenery.

A little off the beaten path but not far and we’ll worth it. Service was great, everyone very friendly. Food is country home cooking. And exceptional, full of flavor not greasy
Portion was more than enough, I took home enough for lunch. Highly recommend

Our family had a really good time eating at the Cookie Jar. (The group was great-grandma, grandma, and a family of 4, the children 6 and 7 years old). Great grandma thought her burger was too big and didn’t like the way they chopped the onions. The next, grandma, was disappointed that they were out of the “special of the day” but loved her burger. Son and daughter-in-law had hamburger steak with a neutral response. (One had planned to order chicken tenders, and they were out.) Both kids had macaroni and cheese, small burgers, and fries. They ate well and seemed happy.
The only real fuss was that they were out of many dishes and desserts as well. But hey, ” if ya snooze ya lose,” …we stopped there pretty late on our way home after visiting the Chattanooga area
They had obviously had a busy day, and the parking lot was still full when we arrived at around 6:45 pm .
The rocking chair porch view was priceless. The petting zoo and play area made the ending of our day so special.
Thank you, waitress, who patiently listened to my 6 year old grandson try to get the words together to ask if you cut your own fries… he obviously thought you did.
We appreciate our experience and would definitely go there again.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly people with expedient service. Ordered popcorn shrimp, fries, deviled eggs, and hush puppies. Popcorn shrimp was very tasty, nicely fried. Fries were crispy and light. Deviled eggs were quite bland but not particularly unpleasant. Hush puppies arrived very undercooked. Upon being asked they immediately offered to prepare a new batch of which was very tasty and cooked all the way through. Overall solid dining experience, I would recommend.

We arrived around 3pm central time on a Tuesday. We were quickly seated and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. Our food arrived hot and was all very good. We had the chicken tenders, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, turnip greens and fried okra. All very tasty. The salad with fried chicken was also very good. The wings are amazing too! We bought a chocolate cream pie to eat at home. Wonderful place to view the fall leaves!

We came on a busy Saturday lunch. No signs on road to get here. I guess in the age of GPS no need. Place was hopping. Even then we didn’t wait too long. The new building from the fire was nice although flat walls and metal ceiling leaves it quite loud.
Staff was super friendly and efficient although I think they need a dedicated table busser instead of servers doing it.
Main meal was not bad but not great. Of what we ordered at the table the salad, BBQ and hamburger was fine. Green beans were bland and watery, biscuits were dry, french fries were over cooked and dry.
Desert, however, was fantastic. We had the coconut pie and peanut butter tort. Delicious.
I counted 120 cookie jars (but no cookies were being sold oddly).
Would recommend but probably just a one time deal for this tourist.

Ordered the meat plate (catfish and sides) and the sweet tea chicken sandwich. Wasn’t sure what made it sweet tea? Food was Nothing spectacular but it was definitely value for money. I did, however, love the warm rolls (and cornbread) basket that was placed on each table that made a true farmhouse kitchen experience. We tried the cupcake but wasn’t too impressed by it.

Came here on a Friday for lunch, and we were quoted about a 30 minutes wait. We didn’t mind waiting but for those that have zero patience, you might want to call ahead. The hostess was really sweet and waiting was a breeze because of the porch, the outdoor seating, and all the farm animals and playground. Great spot for families!
