Visited Cook House Cafe in Jan 2026 on a Wed. nite just as they opened at 6pm. We got there at 6:10 and got the last table since they don’t take reservations. From a menu that changes weekly, we started off with a rum cocktail from their special list, we had a Venum which has a surprise floating in it! Delicious drink, it was large and the alcohol was prominent. For appetizer we chose a Steak Tartare which was tiny cubes of beef dressed with a mushroom sauce over vegetables and mashed potatoes, was delicious with rye bread; and a Winter Salad with chicorie greens, stilton blue cheese, candied nuts, sherry dressing and more delicious than any other salad I have had. Dinner was Sea Bass with clams, bacon, and potatoes with a sherry clam sauce – yum. And a Veal Banquette with poached veal and vegetables with a sauce – elegant and tasty. For dessert we shared a Chocolate Cheesecake that had real whipped cream and coffee. The food and coffee was served hot which was a plus for me and made my night! Will go back even though it is a bit cramped in there and pricey. Even with a candle on the table, it was so dark in there we had to use our phone flashlight to read the menu. Nice local spot, you should visit. You won’t be sorry.

My son and his wife took me to this place. It is a very nice place. The drinks were fabulous.i started off with a Yogi’s Choice. It was your choice of bourbon or mezcal raspberry & strawberry infused, coconut water pour over matcha. With a piece of white chocolate with raspberry drops on top. Our dessert drink was expresso martinis. The food was amazing. Very clean restraint and bathrooms. The only negative thing is it gets very loud. Hard to converse with each other. Great dinning experience. Well done Cookhuse!

Came here for a friends birthday, loved it so much I brought my wife a week later. Everything here is on point. Food is high quality and cooked perfectly. Atmosphere is quaint and cozy. Service is super welcoming and accommodating.
Will definitely be coming back when the menu changes.

Nice/quaint restaurant in Baltimore with amazing food, attentive staff, and awesome bartenders. No reservations restaurant but worth arriving on time. Menu constantly changes and not very extensive but you can tell each dish was made with attention to detail and presentation of food (and drinks!) that taste great. Chef’s background (Spain, Venezuela and England) shows up with unique twist of flavors in the food for an enjoyable experience.

These bartenders are good .. really good cocktails, and most of the food options we tried were right up there too. Steak Frites in particular was excellent. Busy evening, service was a bit slow, the only hiccup.

I moved to Baltimore from the metro NYC area less than a year ago. Baltimore has been a great surprise in many ways – friendly people, charming quirkiness but the food can sometimes disappoint. So, when you find a restaurant that surpasses expectations with great food, inventive cocktails in a lovely atmosphere with super helpful staff – it deserves a mention. On a recent snowy evening I went to CookHouse, I had a Black Manhattan (oh yeah, you need to try this!), steak tartare with a Russian twist, pot roast (better than my mother’s) and a sticky toffee pudding finale. Everything was luscious. To be honest, this was my 4th visit to this jewel of a spot. I’d like to pay tribute! Bon Appetit!

I’ve never left less than 5 stars on a review, but my partner and I ate here in mid-September and I’ve been thinking about how disappointing it was ever since. I love supporting local Baltimore spots and really wanted to see this place succeed. The bar program has great potential!
Unfortunately, the food was rough. He ordered steak frites (around $40–50) were completely unseasoned… both the steak and fries were bland, no salt at all. My duck wasn’t rendered properly, which made it tough. Really wish steak knives were provided. Even local chains season their proteins more thoughtfully than this.
As others have noted service was very minimal. Water, order, and check, with no real engagement or check-ins.
It really hope it was an off night, but it’s hard to justify trying again unless there are some major improvements in the kitchen. I’d genuinely love to see this place reach its potential, because Baltimore deserves more great restaurants.

Cookhouse was the perfect spot for my wife’s birthday (easy decision as it has been her favorite restaurant since our first visit). It completely delivered, as always. The food, service, & ambiance are always on point & makes for a wonderful experience. From their unique craft cocktails to apps to their entrees you will be thrilled you visited. We will definitely be back.
