Giving this place a three stars I paid $27 for everything. My issues are that the pastries were cold they were not warmed up or given the option to warm up. Also I paid 13.00 for the breakfast bowl when there are similar breakfast bowls for 7 Bucks with more potatoes or food in it I feel like it’s kind of overpriced for no reason

Happened upon this place by accident on a trip to Essex from Hartford area. So glad to find this gem because I’ll definitely be going back! We just did a walk through, but already have in mind things I want to try the next time I get back there. So many unique items to see, fresh bread, fresh flowers, great refrigerated and frozen prepared food options. There were several different salads to choose from rotisserie chicken. There was a section where you could order food and sandwiches to go. The bakery items looked delicious! So much more as well! As I said so many great things! The staff was really friendly as well! Can’t wait to get back there to try some things! Wish them all the best, they deserve it! Cool place!

What a ripoff. 16$ for a disgusting prime rib sandwich. It was really small. Loaded with gristle, one ever so small slice of cheese, loaded down with some mayonnaise crap. That ruined what seemed like a decent roll. I also got a piece of porchetta picture perfect at 22$ a lb. Just a tad over priced. The slice or corn bread 4$ well worth it. This place won’t last the sandwich was beyond gross. I just looked at the menu the sandwich I ordered was supposed to have lettuce and tomato. Now I wish I didn’t tip.

Everything was pretty great until I got my sandwich home and realized that the egg wasn’t even cooked at all almost not even over easy. It looked way too raw to consume for that price. I mean, they should’ve at least cooked a sandwich Correctly. Most people know when an egg is safe to eat and not. But otherwise, everything else is pretty great. If you’re going to order an egg sandwich. Make sure you say you want it well done… Pretty sure if I eat this, it would’ve given me salmonella

“Good things come to those who wait”! Cooked is a welcome addition to the bustling food community in Essex. It’s like an indoor farmer’s market with an upscale vibe. Lots of locally sourced goods delightfully displayed. Kudos for the salads and soups served in compostable paper containers. After several visits, we’ve enjoyed most of the baked goods, some chocolates, Granola Butter, and a delicious side of curried cauliflower to embellish a busy weeknight dinner. If you’re gifting a foodie, you’ll also find non-food items for the kitchen. Easy in and out parking is on the side, rather than in front. There is one handicapped parking space in front next to the ramp leading to the entrance. The aisles are wide enough for a wheelchair or walker. There’s usually someone available for assistance with items on higher shelves. If you’re on a budget, check out the “day-old” bread shelves starting on Thursdays for some great deals (they freeze well too!). Nice staff and friendly service. Looking forward to trying some of the frozen entrees and enjoying more items as the seasons change!

As is the case with many quaint Connecticut villages, they Cooked Marketplace caters to those who don’t look at the cost of things when they buy.
Its offerings, however, from premade sandwiches to ordered deli sandwiches and all kinds of interesting types of things to drink, it is a place where you can feed yourself, perhaps, buy nice foodie gifts for friends or to take to a host of a party.
Great ambiance and very friendly folks working there. Of course, they have all kinds of delectable chocolates right near the cash register that you can’t resist grabbing.
All in all, a great spot to stop, even if a touch pricey.

Prices are outrageous but when customer can not get a chicken cutlet ( when are for sale) on a roll with mayo because it’s not on sandwich board…..even willing to pay $15 but girl behind counter said no. We usually leave paying $60-$100 for takeout. A piece of prime rib was $35 and half of it was fat. People buying have more money than good culinary palates or brains. Store is nicely appointed and the girls at register are very nice.
But that was last time since they obviously don’t care what customer wants or need our business.

This was the best sandwich I’ve had in, well, I’m not sure how long. The shoddy photo might not capture it, but the falafel sandwich was fresh, delicious, and flavorful. 5/5
They have a nice selection of snacks and drinks, and their baked items come from one of the best bakeries in the state, G Cafe.

Customer service is a hit or miss. It depends on who is feeling friendly. I love the place for gifts and chicken curry salad. However, the portions a lacking. Got two Beef Bourguignon at 24.50 each. My husband’s had one tiny piece of beef. Mine had 3.
The mashed potatoes took alot longer to cook than the directions state.
Be thankful I didn’t leave a review about the overpriced horrible prime rib we got a while back. As a local I know I have many places to pick from. Will think twice before stopping back in

Well, this is not a typical review but I still want to add it to show our appreciation. My son and I caught a huge eel when fishing nearby. We thought it might meet the trophy fish threshold by weight so we just searched for stores nearby with a certified scale. We went here and the staff were so nice and friendly. They provided us a plastic bag to put the eel in and weighed on their scale. Though the weight turned out to be a bit short of a trophy eel, but the whole experience there was so nice. They even gave us a bag of bread for free when we left there. Highly recommended!
