Convivo is a Santa Barbara restaurant with an Italian soul. Chef-Owner Peter McNee’s menu is best described as ‘Nomad Italian’ because it strays from the standard or traditional Italian, sourcing inspiration from many other cultures’ cooking. The ever-changing menu includes small plates, housemade pasta, wood-fired pizza, rotisserie chicken and lamb, fresh seafood and steaks, all served family-style. McNee’s all-star supplier network provides the freshest produce and local seafood. Great location right on the beach. Outdoor seating had a beautiful view of the ocean. Service was wonderful and the drinks were good but not consistent. The food was just ok. Ribs were dry but the chicken wasn’t bad. The bar tender recommended we eat somewhere else because the food was sub par and he wasn’t wrong.

10/10 Experience at Convivo

I recently stayed at the Santa Barbara Inn and had the pleasure of dining at Convivo for multiple meals

Service & Accommodations:
The service was exceptional. We arrived after a 5-hour flight at 8:55 pm, right before the kitchen closed at 9. Not only did they welcome us in, but they let us order a full meal and stay well past closing. The food was great throughout our stay, and they were so accommodating with my dairy allergy and breakfast customizations (I can be a little picky!).

Breakfast Highlights:
* Fresh Berries: Truly as fresh as they come–I’m still thinking about the strawberries.
* Avocado Toast: Two poached eggs on brioche with a za’atar twist–so good.
* Furikake Eggs: Served on brioche with shiitake & oyster mushrooms. I had mine with poached eggs on greens instead–delicious, though the eggs were slightly over.
* Frittata: Excellent.
* Tomato Tartine: Just okay compared to the rest.

Lunch & Dinner Favorites:
* Half Roasted Chicken: Perfectly cooked and generously portioned. It comes with a lot of green olives–great if you love them, but I think they could cut back and swap in another garnish.
* Tuna Crudo: Fresh and balanced, though the crackers served with it were a bit stale.
* Carrots on Baba Ganoush: With saffron cauliflower, dukka, and golden raisins–outstanding.
* Crispy Yellow Potatoes: With za’atar, romesco & lemon tahini–an absolute must-order.
* Margherita Pizza: Oven-baked with incredible tomato sauce and fresh basil.

Atmosphere:
The outdoor setting is gorgeous, with bougainvillea everywhere. Indoor/outdoor setting. Inside the bar is small, but the bartender was a delight to chat with.

Overall, Convivo nails it on food, service, and setting. Highly recommend.

This restaurant is a hidden GEM The food quality and flavor profiles are masterful and the cocktails are beautiful and they have a great selection of wines. The team there is what truly makes them stand apart from any other restaurant in the city. The level of attention and professionalism their team members have really sets them above the rest. We loved speaking with the manager, Brooke, she was fantastic. Such a great and very hard working employee. So kind and courteous, and insightful about menu items. We can’t wait to go back again and again!

Amazing Italian restaurant with tasty seafood options and a huge wine selection at the Santa Barbara Inn! I ordered the marinated olives, the focaccia (which was covered in pesto, cheese and grilled onions), and the roasted seafood plate. I’ll say the focaccia was killer. It was good to begin with but the pesto and cheese baked into it made it that much better. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff were great. The outdoor patio is great and you can see the water from your seat. You may need a reservation if you’re coming on the weekend.

We had a really special anniversary evening together with my parents. Hard to believe the cheapest most modest food, the focaccia, was one of my favorites! The Veal Bolognese was really delicious. Trilled avo salad was definitely special and so fresh with the fruit added The affogato was the stand out dessert (hint, get it with Kahlua or your favorite shot). Beautiful outdoor venue and a lovely view!

Nice restaurant with a distant view of the boardwalk and ocean up again a hotel pool. The unique and tasty highlight dish of the evening was the seaweed malfadine. Something else unique is the lemon ricotta cappellacci. The dish we’re most excited about and let down the most by was the 7 hour bolognese.

I’m already looking forward to going back—just for the lemonade! Hands down the best I’ve ever had, and even the straw looked edible (don’t worry, I didn’t test that theory ).

The food was equally impressive. I ordered the Guinzaglio, which was delicious—rich and flavorful. It was a little heavy for my usual lunch preference, but that’s just personal taste, not a knock on the restaurant. Overall, an excellent experience!

First, the place is gorgeous. The staff is very attentive and courteous. The patio had heaters so we were very comfortable even at 16 ºC. The seafood was delicious and tasted fresh. I would definitely recommend the risotto and the mixed seafood grill. We had some focaccia and our neighbors ordered a pizza. They clearly know how to use thst wood oven! We were on a bit of a rush so we were very glad that the food was served so quickly, but a tad sad that we couldn’t stay longer! The experience was so good that in our next Santa Barbara visit we’ll definitely stay at this hotel just for the restaurant.

Convivo Santa Barbara at newly renovated Santa Barbara Inn is a top-notch Italian restaurant with a Mediterranean twist, offering a delightful dining experience.

It’s beautiful spot boasts stunning views, perfect for romantic dinners or casual gatherings. The outdoor seating area is ideal for warm days, while the interior provides a cozy atmosphere. The decor is modern and chic, making it a great spot for any occasion. Be prepared for moderate noise levels inside. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends

We ordered bucatini, seaweed mafaldine with flavorful sauces. Their chorizo and spicy salame’s pizza were also great.

It is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for delicious Italian-Mediterranean cuisine in a beautiful setting.
