We widowed this Italian restaurant for the first but not the last time. It was a wonderful experience as for service and taste of food. It has a style of one of the Italian boutique restaurants that you can meet on the streets of old Europe. We ordered spaghetti and calamari appetizer and it was delicious. Really enjoyed the experience

We love the mussels, soup, and the Trio salad. They have a funny lady that works there and she talked to my husband (while I’m in the restroom) and she laughed that I ordered the burger and he got salad.

Not only a great upscale Italian four star dining experience tucked away in Plaza Del Lago, but also a great Italian Market, wine selection and prepared foods market. I have yet to experience a less than stellar meal with first class service from a friendly and attentive staff. Worth the visit!!

Wow, 1st impression was great. The handmade pizzas were right in front of me. The market had so much variety to offer. Had a bit of a drive ahead if me with no way to keep things cold so I just bought some pastry items. These were amazing. Cannot wait to get back here when things open up. The cafe is calling me.

Celebrating French cuisine, this space is all about quality and flavor. Every item in the menu is thoughtfully planned, paired with the best food combination. They have some amazing desserts as well. Creme Brûlée was one of the best I tasted here at Chicago. Restaurant menu is slightly priced high, but definitely the quality food and service and flavor makes it all worth it.

Ate outside, within view of Lake Michigan, weather perfect, food outstanding. Lots of outside tables and good sun protection.

Really nice place and it is authentic, we stopped by to get lunch after the beach, I love these kind of places, but to be honest, there is room for improvement service wise.

4/16/23: This was previously a five star review, as you can see below. Unfortunately, a very hurtful and disappointing thing happened to us yesterday when we tried to have brunch at Convito. Basically, I was made to feel extremely unwelcome on their patio- a place that they say is dog friendly and where we have dined several times with our dog present. A very rude, unpleasant server who wasn’t even ours came over within seconds of us being seated. He did not welcome us or exchange any pleasantries. He came over to order us to make our dog, who was lying down and not causing anyone any problems, to move to the other side of the table, saying that, “Maybe other customers don’t like dogs.” Well, there was no one at the table next to us and she was just lying in the shade, as we had had a really long walk in the heat. I said we would move her if and when someone else was seated next to us and he stormed off, visibly angry. Then, our waiter came over to say the exact same thing to us. And finally, the host came over to once again tell us to move the dog, despite the people she was seating saying they didn’t mind the dog. That’s three times, three different employees within less than 10 minutes. We decided to leave. No one bothered to take our order, anyway. Why did they seat us there if no one wants a dog there? Later, I wrote to the restaurant and a manager responded (she might also have been the host who seated us, I am unclear). I definitely appreciate the response and apology but what she said really reinforced the fact that Convito prioritizes non-dog people over people with dogs. She told me that two other parties didn’t want to sit next to a dog. In that case, the restaurant has a choice- offer them to sit inside, offer them another table outside, or completely stop allowing dogs on the patio at all. I consider myself to be a very responsible dog person and I am very sensitive to other people as well. But my money is as good as those people who don’t like dogs! Don’t I deserve to have my comfort considered as well? I felt extremely disrespected and unwelcome, so we left and they lost our business. There are many other restaurants in Chicago, Wilmette and the North Shore that welcome us and treat us with respect- with and without our dog. We will take our business there.
