Connie’s Pizza

  4.4 – 4 reviews  $$ • Pizza restaurant

Much has happened since our dad, Jim Stolfe, traded his prized 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire to open the first Connie’s in a small storefront on the south side of Chicago. We no longer play records, we download tunes. We chat online, not over the neighbor’s fence. The Connie’s family has undergone changes as well! We have opened new restaurants and expanded into frozen foods nationwide. There are some things, however, that have not changed. We are still family owned. We are still obsessed with quality and service. And Dad still has the final word! We hope you will all be customers for 55 more years!

Local chain serving a range of pizza styles, from thin-crust to stuffed, in an old-school space.

The pizza was good, but it wasn’t what I was expecting when I ordered a deep dish. It didn’t have the thick layer of toppings, sauce, and cheese. Again, it was good, but more like a regular pizza.

This is the second time I took the Orange train from Downtown Chicago to Halstead to get to Connie’s Pizza. From Halstead we walked around 5 blocks and felt safe getting there. We got the pan fry pizza and it was good; however I will try something else next time….may just their deep dish? They had so many beautiful flowers all around the outside and a beautiful patio. The interior has so much ambience. I suggest everyone looking for good pizza try Connie’s ❤️….

We dined with a large school group and the service was great. We arrived and we were seated in minutes. Pizza was quickly served piping hot by friendly staff. We had several different allergies within our staff that they were able to accommodate, but those meals were not as promptly served (I cannot speak to when they were notified of these dietary restrictions).

Amazing place for deep dish pizza and antipasto salad also their garlic parmesan fries are incredible. The reservation online system is super friendly to use – specially to adjust if your running late.

I have been coming here for many years (20 years) and the food is a 10/10. The ambiance is beautiful for Christmas and the patio is great in the summer. However, the service is not good anymore. My waiter did not check on us much and the manager was rude to my mother for asking a simple question. I say, come to enjoy food but do not have high expectations for service.

My boyfriend grew up coming here so he is always suggesting to go here I’m guessing for nostalgic reasons. Complaint #1-When I first came with him the bread was included and it is delicious, but now you have to order it off the menu and pay for it like an ordered item. Complaint #2 the bathroom NEVER has the paper towels in the dispenser, you have to roll it in your fingers and it’s already all wet from other people doing that. So unhygienic; they have dispensers but don’t bother to put them in there? #3 the pizza was so over cooked there was no tomato sauce left, the pepperoni was black, and it was very salty tasting—it was basically cheese bread so I had to ask for extra tomato sauce on the side to dip my “cheese bread”in there. #4 they don’t split checks, which is SO inconvenient because every time we go it’s always a large group of 3 different families. There are so many big party tables I see there and I’m sure it’s annoying to everyone else too, to end your meal laboring over adding up things on one long receipt. The waitress ended up charging us for the other family’s meal (which was $30 over) because she had to remember who’s was what on what card, since she couldn’t split it. I mean the technology to split checks has been there for years, so why not provide this for your customers? #5 finally they are short staffed, I’m assuming because the servers take forever, but they are very nice so I think they may be doing the best they can?

Been coming here for decades, still had the same feel and satisfying flavor. Not gonna lie since this last visit, it had been while since I came. It was nostalgic coming here again. My kids said the same. I’m definitely gonna start coming more often again. Like they say “food was fire!”. And if you never been to Connie’s or visiting Chicago you gotta try it out! I love the flatbreads but everything is good!
