Located in the beautiful seaside town of Wells, Maine, Congdon’s Family Restaurant & Bakery has been serving up world famous doughnuts and delicious breakfast items since 1955. While much has changed since we opened our doors, the family, location, and flavors, are the same as they were when we opened our doors decades ago — and is the reason so many consider us “a must” for anyone traveling to or through southern Maine.
Iconic housemade donuts in a family-owned throwback also serving breakfast fare & brunch cocktails.

This place gives me the warm and fuzzy in my tummy, especially after eating way too many of their amazing and huge donuts. Their savory breakfasts are so simple, so light, but yet SO good.
The first day we bought enough to feed 6 people (which is triple the # of people in our party), and the second day we went right back and did it again. That’s how delicious they are.
We loved their biscuit sandwiches and their original bowls. We also loved their fritters (guilty for eating two in one sitting, and then sugar crashed) and their cream filled pastries and just felt sad we couldn’t have physically eaten more of their menu.
There’s a drive through and a walk-up, and there’s always tons of people, but it goes by quick. Food only takes 10min (actually less for us) and donuts are obviously pre-made. I’m pretty sure everyone knows that this place is the best in town.

We stopped at Congdon’s later in the day and honestly got lucky they still had donuts left…because I know this place usually has a line out the door.
We grabbed a mix (maple, cinnamon, chocolate cake, and chocolate frosted), and every single one was good, but the cinnamon was the standout for me.
The donuts are fresh, simple, and just done right…no overthinking it. Definitely lived up to the hype and absolutely worth the stop.

We used the drive through. We got an orange cranberry scone, blueberry fritter and a maple square( this was the most decadent maple thing we have ever eaten! The biscuit sandwich and a bagel with egg, bacon and cheese. All of it was amazingly delicious!!! Way more than expected! Best breakfast sandwiches we have ever had in fact! Thank you for the deliciousness!

Ordered online the evening before for 0700 pick up. Arrived and walked past the line inside to the pick up counter. Employee searched for order but could not find them on the shelf. She ended up just grabbing a box and getting the donuts for me. Not a very efficient system in my opinion. The fritters (blueberry and maple bacon) were both good. The raspberry filled donut was a bit disappointing. Not much jelly inside, and it seemed more compote like than actual. The actual donut itself was really good. I think next time I would skip the fancier donuts and go with the basics. Actually stopped back by 10 minutes before they closed because it was so busy in the morning I didn’t actually get to see the donuts and other pastry options. My order from the morning was sitting on the shelf all by itself. I did inform the employee that they had already been picked up earlier that morning.

THE BEST DONUTS!!! Worth the hype. Truly loved with filling, especially the chocolate, maple and powder filled donuts. So so so good. Long line but moves quick! Friendly service. Reasonable prices. The dough is incredible too. Worth the hype. Even got dog donuts!! Went to the food trucks at Congdon’s after dark as well and had the best chicken wrap with live music. 10/10 recommend

Big fans of these donuts! We’re from out of town, and this unassuming shop blew us away. Very fast, even though there was a line when we got there. And the rise on the yeast donuts was incredible—I ate mine before I could get a photo!

This doughnut spot doesn’t look like too much from the street, but delivers some of the best doughnuts in New England. I always come here for a treat! Don’t let the lines keep you from eating here. They move fast! Enjoy and your welcome

I always review things based on the price I pay! At $2.79 per donut and $34 for a bakers dozen (13), they needed to be close to perfect.
Donuts (raised and filled) were standard, nothing to be too excited about, but the fritters were excellent (they were sold out of their signature donut, the blueberry fritter, when I ordered at 10:30 AM so I can’t speak to that). Apple was fantastic.
There’s also a nice shaded seating area to enjoy. They had a sweet employee who came by to offer complimentary donut holes. Overall I’d recommend it but if you’re more cost conscious you might not think so.

My husband and I ordered 10 dozen donuts for our wedding and they were spectacular. We ordered four dozen blueberry fritters, a dozen maple bacon fritters, a dozen confetti, 2 dozen plain honey, 2 dozen chocolate plain and our guests LOVED them!! Communication with Amanda was so easy and very timely, she was so kind ready to answer any question we had. We cannot recommend them enough!!

Amazing doughnuts!!!! We stumbled across this place on our travels. We turned up on a Saturday morning with long queues (due to short staffing), which wasn’t an issue and totally worth it! Plain filled with blueberry jam, and maple. Best doughnuts by far during our holidays. Thank you!
