The creative minds behind Confidant, Chef/owners Brendan Kelley & Daniel Grossman, first met at Roberta’s in 2018. Through years of working the line together and honing their skills, they developed a shared vision for creating a unique restaurant experience grounded in their individual backgrounds, personalities, and the relationships that make it all possible.

Some familiar menu items are still there, the wonderful bread, the amazing sunchokes, and the unreal prawn pot pie. They have some new items, like the spicy mezze rigatoni, was is delicious. We can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. People on either side of us were really gushing about the duck. And whatever you do, don’t skip dessert. The pastry chef is doing WORK, the banoffee sundae is crazy good. And the malted Mille-fueille is delicious.
And as before, the service is top notch. Confidant is doing great things and I can’t recommend them enough! Special place!
I was surprised to learn that this place had been only open for two days! You would have never guessed it by how smooth everything felt and the atmosphere inside.
I sat at the bar and Charlie was so nice and explained the food and cocktail’s menu so throughly. If you’re in the neighborhood drop by and see if there’s any bar seating
Upon arrival, we were greeted by an extremely friendly hostess. We chose to sit at the bar so we could really take in the restaurant, and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with our bartender, whose knowledge of the extensive wine list was impressive. Sitting there, soaking in the space, we couldn’t help but admire the attention to every detail. The special touches and artwork give the restaurant such a warm, inviting feeling. The bartender kindly explained many of the pieces, sharing that several were from the chef’s family collection, which made it even more special.
We were then escorted to seats at the chef’s counter — something we were both so excited about. As a true foodie, this was a culinary treat. Watching the chefs in action was incredible.
We started with the warm bread and the amazing butter (so good you could eat it with a spoon!). Then came the trout mousse and the crudo — the perfect way to begin the meal. The trout mousse was smooth and flavorful, especially paired with the bread. The crudo was like a picture of bright colors — so fresh and vibrant, I could have had two.
My husband is a pasta lover, so choosing was difficult — we decided on two: the Spaghetti al Funghi and the Spicy Mezze Rigatoni. Both were outstanding. The spice was perfectly balanced, and the pasta was cooked beautifully.
For our mains, knowing we’ll be back many times, we chose the duck and the steak. I absolutely loved the steak — I was almost reluctant to share! It was cooked to perfection, incredibly tender, and paired with the most dreamy, creamy potatoes. Not quite mashed potatoes, but smooth, rich, and absolutely delicious. Being so close to the chefs while they prepared each dish truly felt like watching edible art come to life.
My husband orders duck whenever he can, and this one did not disappoint. He loved every bite — and I did too, even though I’m not always a duck person.
Now for another highlight of the night — dessert. We were completely full, but the lovely couple next to us insisted we not skip it, and they were right. We ordered the Biscuit Tortoni and the Banoffee Sundae. What a delightful finish! We literally finished every last bite.
To end the evening, we tried a fun after-dinner drink the bartender recommended — the Lunar Mews. He was right again. It was the perfect way to cap off an incredible night.
Thank you to everyone at Confidant for such a memorable experience. We will absolutely be back and cannot wait for another incredible culinary journey.
Our group of five was seated at a very comfortable table. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and answered our questions with a thorough understanding of the menu. We tried most of the offerings, from the small plates and inventive salads to the new pasta dishes. The steak with foamed mashed potatoes and the duck entrees were exceptional, and the desserts were amazing.
Having dined at the original location, I found that this new setting elevates Confidant to a new level with its updated menu and intimate setting. Our group will definitely be returning to this wonderful neighborhood location soon.
Cocktails on point and the pastas are insane!
