Food itself was pretty good and inexpensive. I do have to say the man on the front grill was a bit rude to his waitress in front of customers. Then we go to pay and it was 46 and then later realized i was charged 54.

We heard about this place in passing and figured we would check it out while in Grand Island for the day.

This might not be the place you would go for an extravagant meal, but the simplicity of the menu adds to the attraction. Step inside and you wont just be in a restaurant, but four walls that have encapsulated memories for decades. Sit down for a while and be brought back in time, where the walls and old news paper clippings have seen the world change, watched business deals, and you will realize this place has watched families grow and couple grow older. This place is more than a restaurant. While I am young and wasn’t around 50 years ago, it makes me miss the times of back then, a simpler way of life, a family-like place to sit and watch the world go by. The people in here make this place truly special. As we watched regulars come in, they knew them by name, what they wanted to drink, and their exact order, from families with kids to older couples wishing the same as us — to slow down in a place that somehow feels like my home kitchen I’ve never lived in. The kindness and generosity goes far beyond this one meal. They are wanting you to come back and continue to join the memories in these walls. We caught ourselves staying longer than normal, we had no desire to leave, but to continue and see the life in this place. Nobody rushed us, and we just sat and took it all in, realizing we missed this atmosphere of a family restaurant and not just a place to eat. The original feel of what restaurants were meant to be, and an itch to continue to embrace a slower way of life. We enjoyed every bit of this place. This little, simple meal made our day, and when we left we were already making plans to go back.

All in all, this place is truly special to people. To be able to go to a place that serves simple, good food for an even better atmosphere. To sit and watch the world go by and all kinds of different people to come in an be known like family with no rush to get back to the busy life. When you go, you must try the strawberry malt.

Food was good yes I did in fact love it and so did my wife service was fast and efficient my only problem was the price of the hot dog charging 3.15 for a hot dog is insane considering you can buy a whole pack for less then 2 dollars at the grocery store and the fries I love that they were homemade that amazing it really is but charging over 3 dollars for basic homemade fries that didn’t have any favor at all I could have went to McDonald’s for same price and get better tasting fries sure its poison basically but it’s good I love this place I do but price is steep considering hot dogs are dirt cheap and potato are dirt cheap to get a entire 5 pound bag at Walmart for 4 dollars cooney island needs alot of work to live up to its full potential if they gonna be expensive

We had the best service. We loved the coney dogs, fries, and chilli. They have been there for 91 years. The food was great! The owner is friendly and welcoming. We drove from Lincoln, it’s so worth it!

First time here, it’s an experience for sure. Nothing fancy, it’s like a way back time machine when you walk in. Sit where you can, in a booth or counter. The service is outstanding, it’s ran efficiently, food came out in under 90 seconds.

The coney was great, coney sauce, mustard, onions. It was what I dreamed of. Bowl of chili, was standard definition of chili, straight forward meat, beans, sauce.

The fries were cooked perfectly, is that in lard? They we so good, I wanted more!!! Lots more!!!

Good and tasty and inexpensive. We even got a to go pack so we could enjoy a coney at home.

Old school 1940s cafe. Great classic food items. Easy straight to the point menu. Great coney Island dogs, burgers, fries, shakes and malts. A must stop for the nostalgia alone. Would definitely return l because I need to try the chili and pie a la mode. Good pricing. Amazing staff. One of the best waitress I had the pleasure of being served by. Kept up with the lunch rush above and beyond. I highly recommend the stop to anyone that is stopping on Grand Island.
