I’ve softened and mellowed out. The food and atmosphere is like crossing the border. My applause for knowing some things never change. And I am so glad.
No large groups what empty restaurant makes that a policy.
I hope they make dramatic changes on how they treat customers or just go out of business. I had enough and will not return.
Been here several times in the past. We came this time out of necessity. It was a monday and our original restaurant was closed (our bad), so with being in rush we knew the Conejitos would be quick. And it was. But as usual, not all that good.
On this particular night, they were not taking credit cards. Sign was on the door, but this seems to be a consistent issue. They sat us a small “wobbly” table in the bar area. (We fixed the wobble with a bunch of napkins, while the servers watched). The music was loud. The room is bit old and tired looking.
Server got to us right away. We ordered a couple of regular margaritas. You don’t get waters (unless you pay). They were $4 and not bad. We ordered guacamole right away. It was definately not fresh. Looked like and had the texture of baby food, over processed.
Ordered a plate of “Chopped Meat” tacos and a Combo Enchilada plate. The food came out in a matter of minutes. It was okay, a step up from Taco Bell (serving alcohol). The beans and rice were good.
They automatically add an 18% gratuity to the bill. We were in/out in less than 30 minutes, which was the main point of coming.
There is nothing bad on the menu!!
The biscuit head club visits often!
My husband and I went in, and despite there being two completely open tables and an entire side of the restaurant empty, they tried to seat us squeezed in between other people. Not just near them right in front of strangers, with my husband placed across from someone else as well. It made absolutely no sense and was extremely uncomfortable and I refused to sit with a stranger!
It gets worse. The hostess then walked over to a man at the bar who was in the middle of eating a taco and told him to scoot over to make space. Who does that? That is beyond rude to both the customer already eating and to us.
This is now the second time this exact situation has happened. It’s not a fluke it’s clearly how they’re choosing to operate. After 30 years of loyalty, being treated like this is unreal. There was no reason to pack people together when space was clearly available.
The lack of consideration, basic hospitality, and customer comfort is shocking. This place used to feel welcoming. Now it feels chaotic and inconsiderate.
Sadly, this may be the end of a 30-year tradition for us. No meal is worth feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.
