The last couple of times we visited, the restaurant was extremely busy and the experience was disappointing. We initially attributed it to the crowd and assumed the staff was simply overwhelmed. Since this was a go-to spot growing up, we decided to give it another chance after a friend invited us for breakfast this morning.
This time, the restaurant was not busy at all. We were seated right away and asked for drink orders within five minutes. Our drinks and food orders were taken without issue. I requested a coffee refill, which I was told was brewing, so I understood there would be a short wait. However, after watching other tables receive coffee, it took at least 15 minutes before our server brought the pot to our table.
I ordered home fries with onions, peppers, and cheese, but they arrived with only raw chopped green peppers. I also requested mayo for my patty melt when placing the order, but had to wait about 10 minutes after our food arrived to ask again.
While our waitress was extremely friendly, the food itself was very disappointing, as well as the screaming and arguing full of profanities from the kitchen. The bread tasted stale, the patty was rubbery, there were no onions on my sandwich as stated on the menu, and the cheese on my daughter’s grilled cheese wasn’t even melted.
The coffee was good though, and again, our server was very kind and personable.
Unfortunately, after three poor experiences in a row, we’ve decided we’ll be driving the extra few miles to Triplets from now on.

Absolutely fantastic! The eggs are the freshest ive had, and the French toast is incredible!
This restaurant truly is a hidden gem cherished by the locals, the whole staff is beyond friendly. And the prices are VERY affordable! Anytime im back from South Carolina I’ll Absolutely be back and you should too!

I’ve been coming to Comptons since I was 6 months old, my grandma and I used to come for the best breakfast in town and a “show” mr. Compton & mrs. Compton have never failed to make customers not only laugh but always feel welcomed. This will forever be my favorite diner with amazing memories and they deserve so much recognition. Always my number one diner to recommend to visitors in the Poconos. Btw honorable mention, the home fries are probably the best in the state.

This place is a rare gem, food is great and the staff are unbelievably nice and accommodating but don’t get it twisted it’s called Comptons for a reason! Don’t go in there with an attitude or think you’re entitled to anything. You get what you give in this place and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Definitely 10 stars if I could!

From upon walking in i was greeted my a friendly person. Another server came up to me to make sure I was being helped. We sat right away on a Sunday for brunch. Food was very tasty. I had scrambled eggs, bacon and French toast. We were a party of 7 and everyone was very happy. Our server was amazing attending to everyone with a smile. The prices were beyond reasonable. If in area again I would return.

We’ve been here a few times and it’s always been good, but we came in on thanksgiving, this morning, and had the absolute best time. Jackie was our server and she started our morning with the best possible vibes. The food was delicious, perfectly portioned to walk out feeling satisfied but not over stuffed. The prices are very reasonable and they have decaf! A luxury not very diner in town offers. The best part of the meal was the pancakes, golden brown and fluffy, griddled to perfection. As a savory breakfast guy, my favorite was the home fries and if you like spicy, get the hot sauce!! It’s house made and perfectly balanced to add flavor and heat to your potatoes or eggs! Jackie told us that they used to sell it and will be starting a petition to bring that back. Our party also got the eggs bene and the hollandaise was smooth and rich. All in all a wonderful way to start our day, thank you Jackie and Compton!!
