boy oh boy what a treat! hardly any pictures because I ate it too fast. the customer service is spot on, I was even lucky enough to meet the owner / chef. I had the burata and tomato appetizer which was devine. my burger was cooked perfectly medium, even the flavor of the pickle had thought put into it. the fries… I can’t even begin. our dessert was the heath bar creme brulee and the cheese plate, personally recommended by the owner. our Bartender was knowledgeable and very sweet. this is what date nights should be. get there early! reservations are a must! absolutely worth every penny!

We visited Communal Kitchen last Friday night. My husband and I go on those sweet dates. The host was super nice, service outstanding. The place never got that full the entire night. The food is definitely worth it. I travel a lot and NY was my territory for many years. That said, I am always ready to pay but this place in my opinion goes a bit far with the prices. It doesn’t justify the price of the yucca, the dessert was just OK for it’s price. I personally will not rush back mainly for the price. It doesn’t justify. Sorry!!

I visited Communal Kitchen for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week 2019 with my friend. It was a casual atmosphere with friendly staff. I enjoyed warm goat cheese with fig jam which had a nice contrast for the palate. My main course was trout stuffed with spinach and mushrooms over mash potatoes. Dessert was warm bread pudding in white chocolate sauce. I savored the flavors of the meal and good company.

A good farm-to-table style restaurant in Nyack that has the quality of food that can rival those found in Manhattan. It seems to be the gem of the locals because the vivacious host and order taker seems to be on friendly terms with everyone. However, it’s difficult to tell if being a local has anything to do with it, as we were treated to the same warm and inviting reception as everyone else. This was our second visit to the restaurant, and like the first time, came here on the recommendation of a friend who lived in the area. The interior has a warm, cozy, and relaxed atmosphere, which is great for our cold-weather, post-hike, dinner. They seem to be big on improving or reinventing themselves, as some of the menu items changed from our last visit. I was impressed by how knowledgeable our order taker was on every single menu item. We barely needed our menus, as she went on to describe every single dish, from the ingredients to how it was cooked and dressed, from memory. After giving us a moment to decide on what we wanted, we ended up with the following dishes:
Chicken Liver Mousse with Port and Hibiscus Gelee – Although tasty and rich (in mouth-feel), I remembered this dish to have better flavor during my previous dining experience. It was slightly on the bland side this time around.
Spicy Pork Meatballs with Chorizo Tomato Gravy and Aged Provalone – These pork meatballs have great heat! I wouldn’t try these if you can’t take spice. The pork meatballs have a firm, smooth texture, which again, were different from the last time I tried them, and again, not as great.
Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Chili Caramel, Almonds, and Rice Puffs – Crispy, but still firm to the bite, they were well-prepared. However, I found them a tad on the sweet side from the chili caramel. (Some of the menu items were a play on sweet vs. savory)
Candied Bacon with Brandied Cherry Jam and Pecans – This was a thick cut strip of bacon that was roasted/baked dry with the brandied cherry jam, so it was sweet, but it was also hard to bite down on (think thick and dry beef jerky). This dish was a friend’s choice, as he loved bacon and sweet things…
Orecchiette Carbonara with Wild Mushrooms, Pancetta, Asparagus, and Sundried Tomatoes – This was one of my favorite dishes. Just the right touch of cream, with the combination of ingredients I love, made for a very tasty dish!
Short Ribs braised in Red Wine, Spelt Pilaf, Roasted Carrots, and Black Garlic Sauce – The short ribs were extremely tender and separated from the pull of a fork. It had great, rich flavor that tasted of its time being braised in red wine. I enjoyed the spelt pilaf, which was an unusual, nutty take on the base grain. The roasted carrots were abundant and good – cooked, but still firm to the bite (I hate mushy vegetables).
CK Caesar Salad with Baby Kale, Shaved Brussel Sprouts, Focaccia Croutons, Parmesan, and White Anchovies – I love this spin on the Caesar salad. Fresh, crisp vegetables with just the right amount of dressing. A great counter balance to the heavier short ribs dish.
Overall, I thought most of the dishes were well-prepared, and the service was fabulous. However, my palate tends to prefer savory dishes, which is mostly why I’m giving my most recent experience four stars.

We had a wonderful dinner here. The menu options are varied and unique; our table had a cavatelli/lobster pasta special, orichiette carbonara, and lamb short ribs. We all enjoyed our meals, and the service was very friendly and attentive. I’m eager to go back.

Crab mac and cheese and the lamb ribs are delicious. Gave me a complimentary champagne for my bday. The blueberry and blackberry crisp for dessert was excellent. Looking forward to visiting again.

I have driven past this place many times to get to the center of Nyack but never really noticed it. I am so glad that today I decided to stop in for dinner and drinks. They absolutely deserve 5 stars because the food was delicious as well as presented beautifully. I would recommend the pork meatballs, the ricotta plate, as well as the mussels. I think they might have been the best mussels I’ve ever had. I will be coming back !

Came with 4 adults and a child requiring a high chair. Very accommodating, knowledgeable about the menu, and had wonderful customer service. Casual, but intimate atmosphere that promotes conversation and with food that is delicious. Can’t say enough good things, we will definitely be back!

Food is great! Service mediocre and it is very noisy! We were a party of 4 and were seated as soon as we arrived. The place was packed and I could not hear the person across the table from me. They have a nice variety of small plates on the menu so we decided to order a number and then see if we wanted anything else. That plan was immediately squashed because they require you to order any appetizers, small plates and entrees up front. Our dinner guests wanted to immediately leave because they were offended by the way our waiter communicated that. Sharing 5 small was more than enough for us. I do recommend the brussel sprouts and mac&cheese! Although I am not sure we will be rushing back with the service at the prices charged.

Can we just say, wow! What a meal we enjoyed at Communal last night. I had their infamous roasted brussels which were absolutely amazing as usual and tried the Korean sweet potato special which was divine.
My husband had the octopus and the ahi tuna which he said were both cooked perfectly and I had the Farro chopped salad, so fresh and delicious. The portions were all gigantic so it was hard to fit in our drinks, espressos and two desserts but everything was so delicious we made it happen!
The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was warm and cozy.
We will definitely be back, this was one of the best meals we’ve had in years. Thank you!
