5 stars is for the bread! Healthy fermentation!!! Sesame peasant is so yummy. However the fisherman’s stew, which was beautiful, was full of flavor in the broth but lacking in fish! 1/2 of a shrimp and 4 small pieces of fish about the size of a dime. As beautiful as it was, We won’t get again.

Had dinner at the 8th Street location last night. We were in our way back from a day trip to GR and had planned on eating at one of the restaurants on Front Street, but once we were in Front Street it was a total zoo and we scrambled to come up with another choice. And we were SO glad that we ended up at Common Good! Had a pizza and the 3 course price fix for the 3 of us. Everything was wonderful!! If you haven’t checked them out you definitely need to!! They have beer and wine too. We will definitely be back. Try it, you’ll be glad you did!

Go here. Don’t even hesitate for a moment. The best breakfast food in Traverse City. Right now it’s only outdoor seating and you order from outside, so this is perfect for bringing back to your own place. But the bakery is some of the best we’ve ever had. Rivals bakeries in France we’ve been to. The chocolate cherry pastries—OMG! Eat here. Often.

Surprisingly rude staff. We called with a large day of request, rather than politely saying they couldn’t accommodate the order, he went out of his way to explain the concept of planning in detail, he kept going on and on even after being asked to stop. Perhaps he was just having a bad day. Bread is good, staff needs more training in customer service.

My coworker and I both had a birthday this weekend but had to work. Our boss offered to get us all lunch from Common Good on 8th street as a treat. Excited, we ordered and both got the Cuban panini. It was horrible. $18 for a sandwich that had one little slice of meat. The first bite was a mouthful of mustard. The bread was hard. $18, I repeat. $18. Never again. I felt embarrassed that my boss got us this as a treat and it ended up being a flop.

I would give this place six stars if I could. Kind friendly staff, great bakery products and phenomenal bread. The sandwiches are also pretty good. The main attraction is the pastry section ranging from savory to sweet. My fave is the breakfast tiles are a pastry with an egg cooked into the top, topped with the baker’s choice of toppings such as roasted red pepper, goat cheese, bacon, etc. They were sold out the day we visited last. Understandable since we came fairly late in the afternoon. The apple danish pictured with the sandwich also pictures made up for it though.

The pastries and coffee products were great from what we tried. If just stay away from the breakfast sandwiches. The bread that comes with the sandwich was not good and the whole thing (both the bacon and sausage) was very bland.

Go for the baked goods, but the coffee was not ideal. Even our espresso drink was below average. Fresh baked buns and breakfast items were solid.

Legit taste and texture! Got the morning bun, chocolate croissant, almond chocolate croissant and lemon bar. Personally, liked the morning bun which is the legit version of cinnamon roll but so Much better than the normal one and almond chocolate croissant. Didn’t like the lemon bar. But will be back for my faves.

I’m not a big pastry fan yet I LOVE Common Good Bakery! I walk there every Sunday with my dog and get 2 of the pear almond danishes for me and 2 cheese danishes for my husband. The flavors are outstanding and the danish basically melts in my mouth. Knowing I’m getting those danishes for breakfast definitely makes getting up worth it!
