The family that owns this restaurant are the most gracious people ever. They were having a Thanksgiving friends and family feast and invited us in (random strangers) to eat with them on Thanksgiving night. We were in town for the egg bowl and limited restaurants were open in the Starkville area. They were so welcoming and generous. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere and people were great! I highly recommend eating here. We will definitely be going back.

Honestly just sad I haven’t tried commodore bobs sooner! Nolan was outstanding, the service the food and the atmosphere… outstanding! We can’t wait to return! I had the fish and chips which was the special. I have only had such delicate and delicious fish and chips in an Irish Pub in St. Paul Minnesota! The house made tartar was exceptional! My husband had the pork chops honestly the best pork chop I’ve ever had! I would have a hard time ordering the next visit!

Come here for some awesome food! It’s not applicable to every night, but I got an amazing steak special with fries and free wine or beer for only $20. That is a STEAL ladies and gentlemen. Brady and Iliana at the bar were super helpful and informative. It was a busy night tonight and a less patient person would rate lower but I understand what it’s like. Also, the chocolate cinnamon ice cream is a MUST!

This was our first time here and I hope every time is as good. It is now my fav place to eat in town. Our waitress was Kandler and she was amazing. We had the beef tenderloin, shrimp and grits and the pork chops. I’m very picky on the correct temp of my pork chop, 145-150 max. It came out perfect! First place I’ve found to do that. My husband liked my pork chop more than his shrimp and grits but I liked them both. (Nothing can beat a properly cooked thick pork chop) the shrimp and grits had this thing on top that wasn’t good and I think had star anise in it. If you like black liquorish then it’s good but I hate it! But it wasn’t to much that I can say I wouldn’t order again. There were only a few bites that had the seasoning. The steak was raved about too. As sides we all had whipped potatoes (amazing!) spinach (wouldn’t order again) and salad (great). Already trying to get my husband to take me back this week lol. Also it was pretty loud inside so we will be sitting outside next time.

I was sitting at my usual spot at Taste when a local recommended this place, saying the food was a must-try. I rushed over the next day, only to get angry. The place is small and a little noisy, which is understandable. However, after waiting a very, very long time for a bartender to serve me, the gentleman came over with an attitude (you could tell he was frustrated as he was the only bartender working) with a full house.
I brushed it off, got my drink, and then ordered some food. The food was served in less than 5 minutes, which was weird for a full house, as I watched everyone’s food get plated off the grill (steak fries) with steam passing me by… I got my food cold. Serving me cold food after a long day of working is like an abomination to me. I ate it because I was so hungry and had no energy to argue. I figured they had given me an order that was just sitting there or wasn’t wanted by someone else. I tried so hard to look past that.
I was still hungry after eating that little serving of cold fries, so I ordered the soup. It tasted great, but guess what? It was cold again! At this point, I said something. The chef remade the soup and brought it back hot, but by then, I was turned off by the bartender, who only decided to check in on me after the crowd had left. He even mumbled something while walking away from me when I ordered the second drink in frustration of crowd at the bar. He also spent all his attending to just one side of it. Won’t recommend him working alone.

The cold food and horrible bartender can’t handle a full house in such a small town. I live in Miami and come down once a month for work. Service is expected in Miami, which is a big, busy city, so imagine how much better service is expected in a small community.

After waiting at our table for 20 minutes, we asked for a server. A young server came, who was really sweet and very apologetic. We ordered unsweet tea, but she was sorry they were out. Then we ordered the spinach salad. She was also sorry they were out of that. Then we ordered the kale salad, and she was sorry they were out of that, too. After an hour and a half, she brought a house salad with balsamic dressing. We had ordered the grilled Caesar salad, and she said they were out of that, so they substituted this. Finally, after almost 2 hours, our entrees were served. It was not worth the wait; the steak was cold. Terrible.

Most of the food was cold, the poached eggs were very overcooked, the French toast had so many spices it was almost inedible, the tea tasted old, and they never refilled our waters. When we let them know about the experience, all they offered was a 10% discount- and management didn’t even come ask what was wrong or what they could have done better.

Went for brunch. Had to struggle a bit to find a parking spot. Then parked little far and walked down. The place is very small with only few tables. So I imagine if you are not going early, or in a busy weekend, you might need to wait to get a table. Fortunately we got one without any struggle. The ambiance was nice and laid back. The options for the menu is pretty limited. Both of us went for Benedict. There was no beverage menu written, so I don’t know what are the options. The guy asked if we care for mimosa, and we both agreed. So they served freshly prepared mimosa. The food was really good. My egg Benedict was with some ham and Hollandaise. The ham was too good. The ingredients were really fresh. I took the side as grits, which was topped with some freshly grated Parmesan. That was one of the best grits I have ever eaten. The another dish we ordered was the crab cake Benedict, which was also lip smacking good. Especially I want to mention the crab cakes. Seems they were house made and super fresh, crunchy outside, flaky and meaty inside. As a side with that order, we took hash browns.
