Whewww lawddd…I stopped in today for my first time. Idk how many times I passed this restaurant going to the gym…telling myself to stop in one day! Well today was the day and I got the Smothered Pork Chops with Mac & cheese, Collard greens and Corn bread. I also got one Oxtail Empanada…Mannnnn when I tell you it has been a very long time since I’ve tried a restaurants food that made me HAPPY!!!! I started with the Oxtail Empanada cuz I was like this thang look too pretty I busted it open and man was it a juicy Oxtail empanada! It was so damn good and so damn favorable!!! I need a platter of them for my birthday next year I swear!!!! That was done in a minute I didn’t want to finish it since it was so good. Then I tried the Collard greens and when I tell you they were perfectly seasoned. Not too salty and the greens were cooked perfect I haven’t tasted anybody’s collard greens that I have liked in a very long time. That’s hard to compete cuz I’m use to Georgia cooking; and that a whole new level of Cooking when it comes to Collard greens. Lawd, then I tried the Mac & Cheese and it was so cheesy and seasoned perfectly! This is my new favorite Mac & Cheese besides my cousins haha. The CORN BREAD Slapped!!! I swear the corn bread will always be the make it or break it deal lol it tasted like some Caribbean cornbread…All of it tasted very Caribbean and Southern!!! I loved it by all means of Life!!!! I read the reviews before going in and idk what they were talking about…cuz my experience was perfect. They were friendly and answered whatever questions I asked and I spoke to the owner which was Super friendly grinding in the kitchen!!! This is OFFICIALLY my new spot for comfort food. I tried the Smothered Pork Chops last….whewww they Had me at Hello like an Adele song they were perfect! I Don’t have not one single complaint about this meal I got. The rice was perfect, the gravy was perfect and the chops were tender and seasoned to perfection. Baby I swear nobody ever gets the word perfect from me Damn good meal! Yall don’t sleep on this place try them out at least once! Support your local restaurants and even if it is across town come try them! I couldn’t even finish my plate…the portions are big and on point!

Food for my SOUL!
Have you ever had lamb chops with a Belgian waffle for brunch? Neither have I… until we ordered the Honey Balsamic Lamb Chops & Waffle from Comfort Foodies! The tender, game-y & savory lamb served with the super-fluffy and slightly sweet waffle were a pair I need more of in my life! Both items were outstanding by themselves, but together they are a mind-blowing combination.
We also tried the Oxtails, which were rich & buttery – melt in your mouth. The Caribbean Rice & Beans were the perfect compliment to soak up the gravy. The sweet plantains were perfectly cooked and just the right level or ripeness.
Enjoyed our meal!

I was really looking forward to trying this place—it’s been on my list for a while. Sadly, I left disappointed. The grits were undercooked, lacked flavor, and didn’t taste fresh at all. The shrimp were hot, fresh, and a good size, but they were way over-seasoned and just too salty. I took one bite of the grits and couldn’t eat the rest. On a brighter note, the spinach empanada was delicious and full of flavor. I didn’t bring up my concerns while I was there because, honestly, they already knew what they served.

I visited this restaurant and ordered the oxtails empanas, the Dominican chicken style brown stew and smothered pork shop. We had Mac and cheese, sweet fried plantain, and greens. As well all the dishes come with corn bread and it was gooooddd.
Great flavor
Large amount
Good price
Fast service and friendly.
I will come back for the brunch next time for
Sure !
The only reason why I gave them 4 starts is because I like my chicken more brown and pork shop deep fried.

Heard about this place from a few contacts so I decided to check it out after Sunday service and before another service.
The place is clean and welcoming. The food was hot and fresh. A fusion of Southern and Caribbean. I had the catfish and shrimp with fries. My co-laborer in the faith had the same but with greens and candied yams. Food was great and certainly will be back. Had the opportunity to speak with the owner as he was going around checking on everyone and even refilling their drinks! Top notch!!!

Wanted a real meal plus I had already wanted to try this place. There’s a really nice ambiance and I could watch the game while I waited for my meal. I chose the smothered pork chops, rice, yams, macaroni, greens and cornbread. I was not disappointed. The pork chops were tender and flavorful, yams not too sweet and good as was everything. Next I will be trying the oxtails and I’m definitely looking forward to them already!

We met a friend for lunch. She had pork chops, my husband had the Dominican breakfast plate and I had fried catfish and grits. All the food was amazing. Looking forward to coming back!

We were going to Shipley’s for a donut but got sidetracked with this restaurant that is right next door. I’m glad we did! The food was fresh and delicious! The restaurant was clean and the service was good too. I ordered the special of the day which was stewed chicken with rice plus 2 sides- I chose candied yams and collard greens. All that for $9.95. Everything was cooked perfectly. It tasted as though you went to your favorite auntie’s house for dinner and she wanted to feed you something good. Man! Those candied yams! I enjoyed everything and loved that the collard greens were cooked with turkey. I highly recommend this place and we will be going back.

We must have ordered the wrong items, they were having a bad day or these other reviews may be friends of the owners.
We ordered an oxtail dinner. They were nice size but very tough and the rice was greasy from the oxtail juices and mushy. We also ordered the smothered porkchop. The gravy was thick and nasty, porkchop tough, rice mushy. Both plates full of food went into the trash.
We wanted to try the empanadas, but after wasting $50 at this establishment, I can’t see myself donating another penny.
I waited so long for you to open just to be disappointed.

The staff was very helpful. The collard greens were so good and with the cornbread man say 9.7/10! The chicken wings were seasoned very well and although I prefer my wings to be smaller, because they fried them good I didn’t mind the size. The rice and peas so good. The oxtail empanada my only complaint is I wish they were bigger. Definitely give this a place a try. Oh and the peach cobbler was also very good.
