That said, the tacos were the clear highlight of the evening — bold, flavourful, and absolutely fantastic. They stood out as the most exciting and satisfying part of the menu. As always, the tequila and mezcal collection deserves special mention: thoughtfully curated, distinctive, and a real pleasure to explore.
COME remains a place I genuinely enjoy, and I would happily return again. I hope future menus bring back the creativity, contrast, and excitement that made my first visits truly exceptional.
Here are my other issues
1) Kitchen cleaning/bamboo closing. While we were still having our dessert, they cleaned the kitchen and closed the bamboos so it felt like we were getting kicked out. You cannot do that when you have an open kitchen and share the light at a 1star.
2) I found a big bone in my dish. They took the dish, replaced it with a new one and gave an empty plate to my friends while my “replaced one” arrived later and later in the meal they said they deducted 3 glasses of cavas ( remind you we are 4 people) from the bill. I was expecting a bit more than that lets simply put it that way. The bone in my meal was really big one not like your tiny oops one and couldve been vey dangerous.
3) I realized the service stopped being as good after the 10th dish. Waiters stopped explaining what order to eat,how to best eat a dish. First dishes they were full on point. There were few moments/errors, where the staff was brushing off. The green drink was served to 4 glasses, and mine was visibily half portion than rest of my colleagues. We noticed and made the joke to the girl who is pouring them ( not our main server) and she laughed and walked away without fixing it.
4) My colleague ordered michelada and said he wants very spicy and I had my picante( which is spicy drink) neither of them were spicy and when we made this comment, they brought my colleague an extra jar (see photo) where he can adjust his spicy levels. We all got a sip from this jar easily, so it wasnt spicy at all.
Back to my starting comment, one star michelin should not be like this and in a city like Barcelona where you have multiple other one star options, I think you need to make adjustments if you not you wont last.
We enjoyed a few other fine dining/Michelin-rated restaurants during our time in Spain, and I can easily say that COME was the best in terms of their warmth toward their guests and their hospitality. I will happily tell everyone I know to visit COME when they visit Barcelona!
I was recommended by my hotel to make a reservation, and within 5 minutes I tried to cancel as nowhere was I told this is a price-fixed meal at 200++ per person, and I was just trying to get some Mexican food for myself and two young children. I called right after making the reservation, and they said sorry you made the the reservatoin and we will not refund your deposit. It was 5 minutes ….. sorry i would have gone back to this place, but with that response i will not and will fight this charge. Read the negative reviews as that is the truth as for the positive reviews they are just there friends and themselves
We have been greeted at the entrance, where the staff shows you the menu. We are not big drinkers, so we asked if it is possible just to order by the glass, but the team was really pushy for the wine accompaniment. So we had more or less to insist not to take it.
After a bit of waiting, you take the first four dishes on a kitchen table next to the entrance. That’s unusual, but why not… every chef wants to make something different. Never the less, standing and having the service of all 4 starters prepared already in front of you, it felt a bit rushed.
After sitting down then, the real service started. We have been sitting in front of the kitchen. There was one other table in the corner occupied with three persons, that’s all – just five guests in the whole restaurant. Nevertheless, about 5 tables around it have not been occupied at all.
The dishes that came afterwards have been very nice in some cases, some have been just standard. Sometimes the textures have been a bit weird, but that’s personal taste. When you have 18 courses or so, there is always something that stands out or is a bit mediocre – in your personal perspective.
What was dissapointing is that the cod of my wife had a bone, and she was biting on it, sticking it between her teeth. The reaction of the team was just a silent “I am sorry” from the waiter.
Later on, the situation got weird: We got asked after the main dish (a raw piece of smoked meat) if we liked the meat, and actually for both of us, it was not tasting nice at all. So we both said we did not like it. I think a statement that is totally fine. In the conversation my wife asked if it would be really Wagyu, and from that second on, the situation got weirder. Within 30 Seconds, four people were standing around us, including Chef Paco Méndez, insisting that it was Wagyu, showing us a certificate and a super marbeled piece of meat. That piece they showed us was clearly different from ours on the table. After more discussion, they showed another piece that was closer and told us this was exactly where our piece was cut from. This one was not marbeled at all. But hey, it should also be Wagyu. I told the chef that basically it’s totally fine for me if he states that it’s Wagyu, we just didn’t like it…
And all that from the feedback, that we just didn’t like the main course…
Of course, the whole experience was broken at this time.
We told the team we don’t want to continue, so we got the cheque. They took nothing off the invoice, even not the missing dessert courses at the end of the dinner… and basically from that point on also the service ended, we even had to ask for our jackets… no sorry that we didn’t like it, no explanation, everybody dissapeared. We had to find out our way on ourself.
I never had a such unpleasant experience in a restaurant.
And especially not in a michelin star one.
