Combo rice plate was pretty tasty. But you can tell it wasn’t made-to-order. Food arrived really fast but parts of it were cold/lukewarm.
It was also confusing that there were two restaurants combined at one place. As soon as you walk in, there were signs everywhere that told you that you can’t bring outside drinks. Then you realize it’s because they want you to buy drinks from the drinks part of the restaurant! A little sketchy…but I fell for their marketing. The Lychee Green Tea was quite refreshing though!
At the end of the meal, we signaled and waited for our waiter to bring the check..only for him to tell us to go up to the drinks checkout line to pay. What a strange experience.

I stopped by Cơm Tấm Thiên Hương for lunch and honestly, the experience was a bit frustrating. Finding parking was the first challenge—I spent over 15 minutes circling around before securing a spot. After that, there was a waitlist of more than 20 minutes just to be seated, and then the food itself took another 30 minutes to arrive.
The food was good, flavorful, and enjoyable, but nothing exceptional that would make up for the long wait and overall inconvenience. If you’re coming here during lunch with limited time, especially on a workday, this may not be the best choice. The delays make it tough to fit into a typical lunch break.
Worth a try if you have time to spare, but not ideal if you need something quick.

This is the only com tam place I know that’s crowded to the point that you have wait for seating. It is inside the little Saigon shopping plaza so parking can be hard to find and I’d suggest that you go towards the inside of the shopping center where that are more parking spots available. The location is extremely popular among both Vietnamese and non Vietnamese (especially those with Vietnamese girlfriend/wife). I’ve had to put down my name on the list every time I’ve been here. This location also closes in the afternoon so plan your trip accordingly.
The good thing is that the food is great as it gives you the most options for com tam (broken rice) in terms of what extra you want. The price also reflects the popularity as the price is usually 25-30% than the other com tam places across the street.
The service is very efficient because they are keen making sure table turns efficiently. Tip is really optional which is great and I feel inclined to give tips this way.

Stopped by Cơm Tấm Thiên Hương off Story Road for a quick bite and was really impressed! This spot specializes in broken rice dishes, and they do it right. I had the combo plate with BBQ pork, shrimp, and fish cake—all full of flavor and served up hot and fresh. The portions were generous, which made it a solid value.
Only small letdown for me: I assumed the plate would come with more than one shrimp (most spots usually give two or three), but it was still tasty. The pork was nicely grilled, the fish cake had good texture, and everything paired perfectly with the broken rice and pickled veggies.

Always a solid spot for Vietnamese rice plates. My go-to order is the grilled pork, fried shrimp cake wrapped in tofu skin, and shredded pork. (bi, thit nuong, tau hu ky)
It’s pretty pricey for a plate. It’s like $20 for a plate but it’s always so good. I can never finish it.

This place is EXCELLENT. I got here around 11:30 am and it was starting to get busy but their service is quick. They have an amazing patio set up! Dog friendly.
The portion is large and everything is great value and tasted amazing

Cơm Tấm Thiên Hương, the “Cơm Tấm” means broken rice. With that in the restaurant’s name, we mostly ordered the rice dishes. My Viet friends were telling how broken rice used to be the left overs from milling the rice and is eaten by farmers. I could not notice any differences other than visually smaller grains. We had the combos, BBQ beef, pork and chicken $22 each with fried shrimp cake, shredded pork, egg cake and grilled shrimp. The food was good. Some of the BBQ pieces were too salty though. The fried shrimp cake was tasty. The other stuff was OK. Service was excellent.
