Cơm tấm sườn is a classic dish from South Vietnam. It consists of grilled pork served on top of broken rice. The combination is often topped with a mix of stir-fried onions and pickles, and it’s accompanied by fish sauce for dipping. The pork is typically marinated in lemongrass, pepper, garlic, and fish sauce before it’s grilled. Located at Food Court of Grand Century Mall, San Jose CA 95112

Best Com Tam in San Jose? : r/SanJose – Reddit

Com Tam Thiên Hương at VN town is the best. Com tam Thanh has HUGE portions, tastes ok, cash only. Com tam Saigon is a hard pass.

Truly a gem. Didn’t know that there’s a legit Viet broken rice place in San Jose. The broken rice is cooked to perfection, the pork chop is well marinated with good blend of fat and meat. The fish sauce could be thicker to be truly authentic but it does not make that much of a difference.

This is better than Thien Hao restaurant in LA in my opinion.

It’s in a food court which might put some ppl off. But the quality more than makes up for the ambience. I was having a rough day at work and this instantly lifted my mood lol, my foodie escape. Give it a try!!

Update Jan 2026: this place still rocks. It’s become our favourite lunch option for lazy Sundays. We normally eat here and then have desserts at Tram Coffee or Oche nearby. Great way to wrap up the weekend. We’ve tried 7,8 and 13, all great items.

Gotta go back!!! It is authentic Com Tam I’ve ever seen in San Jose. I can tell that the flavor is exactly what I ate in Vietnam. Their portions kinda big and the lady at the front is helpful whenever you ask for something. Trying this place won’t make you disappointed. Highly recommend!!!

Good place for lunch. The guy taking the order was friendly explaining the dishes. They also give free water.
It was louder than normal due to a festival taking place outside. Otherwise, it’s pretty quiet eating in the food court.

I’ve only eaten at a few places in the area, but this place is pretty good. I enjoyed the food. Also, they aren’t packed like some of the restaurants, so you can submit your order and grab a seat with 0 wait.

One standout feature is that no matter what you order, it will match the picture 100%

My favorite com tam spot in SJ.

Suon + cha (pork chop + egg cake) is my go to. Meat is super tender, salty egg cake is a unique, and rice is the perfect texture.

FYI – It’s in a food court.
