I’ve now been there twice, tried their pizza, three diferent pasta dishes, two salads, foccacia bread, wines, and dessert, and I can say it’s among the very best Italian restaurant I’ve been to in San Diego, possibly the very best, and I’ve been to many in Little Italy, downtown, and north coastal San Diego.
First, it’s authentic and not corporate, run by a family from Sicily. They are welcoming, warm, and friendly. The makeover of what was formerly Pizza Nova, has turned it into a very attractive and homey place, like something I’d find in Italy.
The pizza is Rome styled, a thin chewy, foldable crust that’s simply delicious. A whole pizza and salad for lunch was $20 (see images). At dinner we enjoyed three different pasta dishes, each served in a large metal dish. They were each huge portions and very delicious.
The focaccia bread was served hot with a crispy crust with a topping of olive oil and sea salt. I tried two salads, the Caesar and riddichio and both were excellent with homemade dressings.
The wine list is very large, filled mostly with Italian wines by the glass and bottle, many from smaller Italian wineries and a few CA ones.
Overall prices for the dinner items are reasonable considering the portion size and quality.
Solana Beach has gotten several new restaurants this year. I’ve tried them all, and this is best of the lot.
I dined just a couple of days after the soft opening and apparently the word has gotten out because the restaurant was packed with every table full at dinner. In spite of it being slammed, the staff, including the owner and his wife, were very attentive and provided great service.
We are so lucky to have such a great place in Solana Beach. I expect this to be a regular now for me and my family, both for lunch and dinner.
The service was amazing and food was so delicious!!!!
I had alooot of food but definitely my favorite dishes were the artichokes omg you have to try them and the pizza pasta omg the pesto gnocchi was outstanding
The pizza was absolutely amazing! Easily one of the best I’ve had. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and truly authentic Italian.
Shoutout to Roberto for the amazing service: super friendly and attentive.

I would give 10 stars if I could! Wish them lots of luck. We’ll be back for sure .
