We were on our way back to Milwaukee from a visit to northern Wisconsin and were looking for a “better for you” option for a place to eat on the way home. The cafe caught our attention. It was a cute cafe and loved that the ingredients are locally sourced.
The cafe is accessible even if you aren’t going into the Farm Exploration center, and it provides a good amount of options including sandwiches, bakery, and variety of drinks and other snacks. We both go the Turkey panini and a beverage and it was delicious. Came with a side of potatoes and small salad, perfect for what we were looking for.
We popped in the gift shop and checked out the World’s Largest Potato Masher while we visited and it was great to learn a little bit about the grounds and facilities, we will definitely come back to check out the rest of the building.

The Wisconsin Explorer
While their normal menu wasn’t available during my visit, I came at the perfect time when they were celebrating National Mashed Potato Day! The special menu for the day was all about one thing … potatoes
I decided to try their potato pancakes, and let me just say they were to die for! So soft, fluffy, and full of flavor. Easily one of the best I’ve had! I paired them with a Banana Nut Iced Latte, which was the perfect finishing touch smooth, nutty, and just the right amount of sweetness
The Colorful Plate Cafe is such a fun little spot that focuses on locally sourced, farm-fresh ingredients, tying right into the mission of the Food + Farm Exploration Center – to teach people about where our food comes from and the importance of Wisconsin agriculture

Absolutely wonderful. Had the farmers breakfast and it was delicious. Literally could not suggest anything. Cleaned the plate completely and was not overly full or underfed. Will definitely come back!

great space in plover, off the road, but nice big area for dining, hanging out, reading a book, outdoor tables, nice place for kids, its inside the food and farm center, that looks like an interactive center for farming and events place. they have breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandiwiches, great coffee, lattes, tea, artisan soda’s and mimosas. casual, no lines. Can’t bring outside food.

The food is amazing! Glad we found this. Nice fresh ingredients blended well.. they also have bloody Mary’s, mimosas, a variety of unique drinks, so I will definitely be back to try out brunch.. the suites all looked to die for. And the staff was super friendly and flexible.
