I tried the Chicken Kothu, Chicken Biryani, Vada, and Masala Dosa — I loved everything except the sambar, which was a bit disappointing for me. The chutneys were really good, though! The place is a bit small, but the people are super friendly, and I loved the overall vibe. If you’re a fan of South Indian or Sri Lankan food, this is definitely the spot to check out.

Incredible food, great variety, amazing veg portions. Good options for veggie eaters. Service was great! I can’t wait to try more of the menu.

small location with exceptional food. Ordered a dosa, fried rice, and curry. Food came quick and could easily be described as the best asian food around. Would absolutely go out of my way to come back again.

The food was honestly so good! Every spoon was packed with flavor. I tried the mutton biryani, chicken kottu, and falooda. All of them were tasty, but the chicken kottu really stood out, it was super flavorful and definitely my favorite.

The best South Indian food I’ve ever had. We ordered a Mysore Masala Dosa and Kottu Chicken. For drinks we did Madras Filter Coffee. The food was exceptionally delicious and served beautifully on a large leaf. The service was very good and friendly staff. Will definitely be coming back.

We went to Colombo Spice for the first time today and it was fantastic. The place is a small hole in the wall but it is clean and comfortable, the food is delicious and plentiful, and the service was so friendly. There seemed to only be one guy working, who was the server, the cook, and the cashier, but he was super-friendly and funny and really efficient. We had the Sri Lankan-style chicken curry, which was rich and delicious with a nice touch of spice, and the masala dosa, which was huge, perfectly cooked, and had the best dosa filling I’ve ever had. The flavor was subtle but delicious, complex, and absolutely craveable. We loved this place and will definitely be back!!

The sambar had an exquisite tomato base and was incredibly tasty. The eggplant curry was also very good.

I am going to be honest, Colombo Spice really surprised me, and this is how.
I normally start my reviews talking about the food, but this one will be started off with the atmosphere/service. Colombo Spice was our last resort for some South Indian food to eat quickly because we were in a rush. The restaurant is very tiny, cramped, and dirty. The minimal space makes it even hotter during the summer months. Our table had specks of dirt on it, and I was instantly disgusted with the look of the place. The bathrooms are not great either. The service is very slow, and for such a small, low crowded restaurant, it took at least twenty minutes for our food to arrive.
Moving on, we ordered Plain Idli, Masala and Butter Dosas, Veg Kottu, and Mango Lassi. Let me tell you, for the amount of time we waited for this food to arrive, we wanted to expect something great, but kept our expectations low because of the ambience. However, this is where we were shocked! The food was amazing! The idlis were so soft and fluffy, the butter dosa was indeed buttery, the masala dosa had a scrumptious filling, both were crispy and fresh, the chutneys tasted homemade, and the saambaar was my favorite! The Veg Kottu was so different from other restaurants in a good way. I did not expect all of this food to taste this delicious. It was better than the South Indian food you get at all of the bigger South Indian chain restaurants. The only thing I didn’t like was the Mango Lassi which barely tasted like mango and had a texture that was too thin/runny. The dosas and idlis were served in paper plates with banana leaves on top which was so nice!
All in all, I loved the food here, but the atmosphere, nearly not as much. I would not mind revisiting if changes are made. The portions are pretty good, and same with the prices.

The food was amazing! Would definitely recommend it to family and friends. I tried the chicken curry with porantha and it was very good. I’d say it was better than the dosa. The seating space is a little small and there’s only one chef so the service is a bit slow but I think it was definitely worth it!
