Social Profile:

Coffeesmith, a Forest Lake Coffee Shop, was founded by Calvin Waddle, a Forest Lake native with a love for coffee. After working in the specialty coffee industry for a few years, Calvin fell in love with the business and the level of customer interaction that it came with. His passion for connecting people was fueled by a mutual love for coffee and conversation. Coffeesmith products are hand-crafted and high-quality products. We use farm-fresh milk, house-made flavored syrups, and Minnesota-roasted coffee from Duluth Coffee Company.

Super busy place! I had the chia pudding which was 9/10. Slightly too sweet but had a very unique mango/lemon flavoring. Definitely a shareable.

I had a hot latte with a shot of lavender which was really good too.

The best part was Loui, their adorable disabled French bulldog I’m coming back so I can see him again!!

My favorite Minnesota coffee shop. Forest Lake. Beautiful early 1900’s brick Victorian house turned coffee shop. Great owner, amazing staff, fantastic barista coffee, the breakfast sandwich is amazing!

Stopped by Coffeesmith on our way to Duluth, and it turned out to be one of the most charming coffee shops we’ve visited! The fact that they’ve set up their café inside a house makes it feel cozy and inviting—a truly unique and cute idea. The decor is warm and welcoming, creating the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Their menu offers a great selection of coffee and breakfast items. We decided to try the BARISTA SIGNATURE FLIGHT, which included a 5oz Bourbon Caramel Latte, 5oz Almond Vanilla Latte, and 5oz Miel—all were fantastic, but the Almond Vanilla Latte was our favorite! The others lacked some flavor, may be they can reengieer the drinks. We also had the BREAKFAST SANDWICH, which was tasty, along with an almond croissant and coffee cake—both were absolutely delicious. Service was exceptional too.

One thing to note is that this place fills up quickly in the morning, so plan accordingly. But if you’re looking for a delightful coffee spot with great drinks, delicious pastries, and a cozy vibe, Coffeesmith is definitely worth a visit!

I wish I could give 4.5 stars! Great sandwich–in my top ten breakfast sandwiches. Lattes were also good. Quick service, even with many people. Dogs aren’t allowed to sit outside (the owner’s bulldog has free reign). We will definitely return!

Such a lovely coffee shop 30 mins North of the Twin Cities. The baristas were friendly, helpful, and patient about my questions regarding my nut allergy/dairy restrictions. I got a lavender cold brew with oat milk and I thought their cold brew was delicious! They have outside seating and super fun furniture. It was such a joy to enjoy a coffee with my friends there. Thanks for a lovely experience to the Coffeesmith staff!

We tried the bananas foster and salted maple lattes and a chocolate croissant. All were underwhelming. The salted maple didn’t taste like maple at all and the bananas foster didn’t taste like banana at all. They both just tasted like sweet milk. The espresso they used somehow disappeared in the drinks and left only a hint of bitterness on the tongue and added nothing. Took three sips each and threw them away. Didn’t finish the croissant either. Overall a waste of money and time. Cute patio though.

Relaxing historic coffee house, with wrap around porch, picnic tables and indoor seating spaces. Coffee flights and food. Nice stop in Forest Lake, north of downtown and the lake.

We love this unique coffee shop. Coffee is amazing! Be sure to try the Salted Maple Latte. Pastries from Patisserie 46 and tasty egg sandwiches. A gem of a place and so worth the drive to Forest Lake.

This hidden gem in a historic house built in 1912 is a total vibe. It’s got that old-school charm but I found that it’s actually a new spot. I spent a couple of hours working there today and it was the perfect setup. The décor is on point and the latte and chocolate croissant were delicious. Recommend it.
