Okay here goes don’t hate me (staff) but I’m going to be honest. This place is super quaint and the staff is AMAZING .. well the 2 ladies I interacted with. The food is subpar for me. I would have liked the creamy potatoes to not be like soup and the cornbread could have been a little softer and warm. The Lima and pinto beans were pretty good and set my soul back to 1980 when Grandma was around to cook. The salmon patties were pretty good as well. I was kinda disappointed in the size of the fried steak and it was a little dry and over cooked but the gravy was delish and I am very picky about my gravy.
It wasn’t horrible although I know it seems that way but I will be back but maybe I’ll ask for a warm up of the food before delivery to the table.
Oh and my friend got the squash and there was an issue but the ladies immediately fixed that.

Finally found a restaurant that serves sweet potato pancakes…and they were delicious. Got gravy biscuits and hash browns as well, they were excellent. Also noticed that not a lot of grease was used. My wife ordered eggs (they were extra fluffy ) and two gravy biscuits. Needless to say, we were stuffed leaving here. Be careful how much you order. They feed you here.

I stopped by while in the area for work. Local residents stopped by and the cashiers recognized them as such. I chose something different, but it was a good option. The sweet potato pancakes were very good. The food, service, and atmosphere were all good.

Amazing place to get great country cooking! The staff are all very friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and the prices are fabulous. My husband and I ate breakfast here for less than $20 and got way more food than we could handle. It was amazing! The portions are huge and the food is delicious!

There are certain foods that I categorize as a “Hug From the Lord” (Check out my book Appalachian Allegory on Amazon for more hugs from the Lord). I grew up in what once was the tiny town of Cartersville, this restaurant was a fixture in my memories. It was Southern food at its finest. Biscuits and gravy, chicken and dumplings, chicken fried steak and cornbread. They all were delicious memories in my mind. I recently returned home to see some family and felt the pangs of nostalgia assault my taste buds in a significant way. As I walked through the squeaky door, I was instantly transported back in time to this little place. I heard the words, “Hello darlin’ what can I get ya?” What a pleasant sound. I ordered my food, patiently waited, and when the first bite hit my lips I felt that “Hug from the Lord.” It was delicious. To those who say, “It doesn’t taste like it used to when I was a kid!” To which I would say, “Is there anything that captures the taste buds of childhood as adults? If so, please tell me your secrets.” Well done Cody J’s. It was indeed a Hug from the Lord.
