The Pad Thai legitimately changed my life. I had two massive plates and I am absolutely STUFFED… and somehow the container is still half full (pictured). It’s like one of those endless oil lamps from a Hanukkah miracle — it just keeps coming no matter how much I eat. Flavor was perfect, noodles cooked exactly right, and the portion size is borderline supernatural.
My wife got the pineapple fried rice and it was insanely good. Sweet, savory, perfectly balanced — I kept sneaking bites and almost regretted not ordering it myself. We both sat there in stunned silence for a minute just processing how good the meal was.
If this is what delivery tastes like, I can’t even imagine how good it is fresh in-house. Coconut Thai just jumped to the top of our repeat-order list. 5 stars without hesitation.
We were immediately seated at a small table for two. The place was busy but not packed.
The Curry Puffs and Spring Rolls caught my eye for starters. The Spring Rolls were fat, and the peanut dipping sauce was tasty. The Curry Puffs were a lot like samosas, but with a sweeter filling. They were smoking hot out of the fryer and had to sit for a few minutes before I could eat them. They came with a very interesting dipping sauce. The best I can describe is that it was like a mignonette with a hint of cucumber. Very good!
For the main course, we ordered Pad Thai with shrimp and Thai Basil Stir Fry with chicken. The veggies in the stir fry were plentiful and cooked just right. The chicken was good but not spectacular. The Pad Thai had good flavor but could have had some heat, and the shrimp was on the small side and a little overcooked.
The service was very good. The servers were attentive and friendly.
The Thai beef salad is pretty good, generally has the classic elements, though uses cucumbers, the dressing is lite, sweet and tangy as expected, the beef was not cooked in a sauce or caramelized as I have typically had it, still tastey. The yellow curry is a fan favorite of the clientele and probably one of their better curries, the green curry was prepared very classically and it was good. Not the best I have ever had, but solid. A good option for Thai if you are in the area on Grand. Service was very good. Almost every dish can be made Vegetarian and GF so a plus for dietary constraints
Don’t be afraid to order it spicy, it is definitely “Minnesota spice”, but if you say you want it extra spicy, they can definitely accommodate
I started with a Thai iced tea and we (party of 3) shared the chicken satay as a starter. The iced tea was perfectly sweet and the satay, which comes with 4 pieces was delicious. For my entree I got the pad see yew with chicken. They have a spice scale from 1-5 with 5 being Thai spicy. I ordered a level 4 and thought it was the perfect amount of spice, but I usually handle spice well. The portion was big enough that I had plenty to take home. Our waiter was very friendly and checked on us often.
There’s street parking right on grand Ave or any of the neighborhood streets.
Overall an amazing dinner and I definitely see myself coming back!
