Cocodrie’s Bayou Kitchen in North Richland Hills brings over 100 years of South Louisiana seafood tradition to your table. Rooted in the Gulf’s fishing legacy, our family started by serving shrimp boats and grew into the largest oyster and shrimp canning company in the U.S. Today, we still unload fresh Gulf shrimp in Dulac, Louisiana — the same boats, same pride. Named after the laid-back fishing town of Cocodrie, our kitchen celebrates bayou culture with bold, coastal flavors and recipes passed down through generations. From crawfish boils to camp-style platters, every dish feels like home. Come eat like you’re at the camp — you’re family here.

The lady at the counter was very friendly with a beautiful smile. I was digging this feel already. We placed our order: one Catfish Basket and one Shrimp Basket. Grabbed our drinks and found a table. A few minutes later, our food came out. They accidentally served my wife fried okra instead of fries. She has no taste for that at all, and unfortunately, by the time the fries arrived, we were basically done.
My catfish came in strips. My wife said the shrimp was very good. Also, the fries were cooked fresh and were plenty hot.
A really fun and good experience all the way around, except for the mistake on the order—otherwise, easily 4 stars.
We did order a starter but everything came it together. It was super busy so I’m sure it was just missed to bring it out first.
We ordered the boudin ball dip, kitchen sink and the fish of the day special, blackened. We loved the dip but didn’t care for the fried bow tie pasta that came with it as it was super hard to eat.
The blackened red fish was the highlight of both the kitchen sink and fish special. The kitchen sink in my opinion is a must try for the first time. It has all of the traditional items included fried shrimp, boudin ball and étouffée.
The fries that came with the fish special were good but needed either a special seasoning or dipping sauce to make them something I would order again.
The hush puppies were light and fluffy and delicious.
We will definitely be back to try the Poboys and gumbo because they looked amazing!
What an amazing add to the area!
Went back fat Tuesday and they got rocked, but never buried their heads in the sands. They killed it. People had to wait because it was backed but I didn’t hear one person complain once they tried the food
If you don’t order the boudin egg rolls I feel sorry for you
The food was nothing short of delicious. I ordered the Alligator Basket, which came with crispy fries. The highlight was the Gator Curry dipping sauce, which had incredible flavor. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good Cajun spot will too. I will definitely be returning often!
I saw two one star ratings: one from someone not wanting to pay when they ordered which just seems silly. The other for the cost which the reviewer listed as $10 – $20 per person. You can spend > $10.00 at a fast food joint. So the place should objectively have a five star rating as I am writing this.
UPDATE: I went back for the Jambalaya and it did not disappoint.
NRH has a winner with this restaurant.
The ordering process begins at the counter.
Above the cashier large backlit signs facilitate quick selections.
We were greeted by the owner Jesse Gibson.
His warm smile and welcoming spirit adds to the experience.
He was very helpful in explaining the menu choices and terrific suggestions made a difference on our first visit.
The staff is very attentive and friendly.
Started with the Shrimp & Okra Gumbo
With rice.
A second Gumbo with rice and potato salad was very tasty.
Shrimp & Jalapeno Boudin Balls are a must.
Oyster basket with hush puppies was a nice addition.
Already planning our next epicurean delight!
Those of us with real Louisiana roots can attest to the accuracy of his recipes.
My one request is to add a location in Plano ( closer to me ).
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Add this to the top of your must try list.
See you there
