0/100 don’t recommend!!!!!
Okay so boom I came here because I really wanted to find a good Jamaican spot as l just moved to the area. AS A BORN AND RAISED JAMAICAN this place was very disappointing, I should have saved my money. I called and ordered Jerk Pork, Festival and a beef patty and she told me to come on in. I get here and tell them I don’t want the rice and cabbage that comes with the meal and ask for baked beans instead (I said this multiple times) I was okay with paying the extra. I get my food and go to my car (I should have checked my plate in the store that is on me) the jerk pork looks fine but there is no baked beans and no beef patty. THEN I take a look at the festival and I almost screamed!! I close the plate and go back inside and speak with the cashier telling her what I was missing and that I didn’t like the festival at all. Now I already see the sign that says no refunds so I don’t even bother asking for one. I instead ask for a different side. The cashier says she supposedly didn’t ring me up for the baked beans or beef patty and then says I need to talk to the owner about the festival. Keep in mind I am trying to be nice as there are others waiting to order as well. I speak with the owner about the festival and she says I must have been wanting fried dumplings when I ordered the festival (I know that festival is supposed to look like) but anyways I then ask for another side and she says okay she can give me mac and cheese. I said fine and asked about the baked beans and she says they did not charge me for it. I don’t argue I just wait for the mac and cheese and leave. Also let me add that the cashier kept saying she didn’t hear me say a beef patty but I said this multiple times on the phone and in person, but I digress as I wasn’t charge for it. Overall I do not recommend this place to anyone at alll!!! And I have a feeling the owner will respond to this and whatever the response may be l have said my piece and I know I am telling the truth. Alsooo I tipped!! $40 dollars down the drain.

Fantastic food. I’m not sure why some didn’t give it a 5star. We had the jerk chicken and curry chicken. Both were amazing. We order hot. It was perfect amount of heat. The plantains we cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese was great too. The beef patty was obviously home made. I think everything was great. We sat on the patio. It really felt like we were on vacation! I would highly recommend this place.

Delicious and family operated. A lot of pescatarian options, only had time to try side options. The plantains were on point. Expect island love, music, and welcoming service. Wide selection of unique beverages and best rum punch ever.

It’s a small place with a great atmosphere, the owner was awsome. All you can eat for some of the items on the menu the food was great and they have different options for heat so if your a wimp like me you won’t die, yes the food is served in containers, I think this makes it so they don’t have to have a dishwasher and can just focus on the food. Give it a try ik other reviews might put them down but I can see they are starting to turn around

As I have read other reviews, it’s disappointing to see to response the low ratings. Ppl don’t buy food to keep bringing it back. If everyone brought back their food to you, there would be too much traffic on WT Harris. So we write reviews to share our experiences. The staff are very friendly, however my experiences with food here has also been poor. I am from a very Jamaican household (that can cook our behinds off, lol), and on occasion when we don’t feel like cooking, would like to order some good Jamaican food. Unfortunately we have regretted every time we have purchased from cocoas, for similar reasons stated by previous negative reviews. There is truth behind them because I have experienced them. Based on the companies responses to these type of feedback, there will likely be no improvement. This last purchase of simple beef patties (nowhere puts beef patties in foil paper, they are supposed to be flaky, not soggy) will be our last.

I was excited when I saw the sign for Cocoa’s. I got home with over $30 worth of food for myself & my ex. Both plates were inedible. The peas & rice was not cooked. The oxtails were tough and impossible to eat. The beef patty was burnt. Do yourself a favor & save your money. Both plates were thrown in the garbage & I HATE wasting food.

Let me start by saying I have not been to Charlotte in years, so I am in town for the weekend and have decided to try out this restaurant. So the atmosphere was nice since I enjoy being outdoors. The food was atrocious and a total waste of my money. We ordered jerk chicken with cabbage and plantain, pork with rice and peas, and cabbage. This was the worst food I ever tasted and it was not real authentic Jamaican. There was no seasoning on either of the meats. We threw the food in the trash and walked over to KFC. This was a total waste of $45. The rice and peas were not cooked and had a weird taste; the cabbage was very nasty. The one thing I enjoyed was the water! Word of advice if you are not Jamaican hire a chef that knows how to cook the real authentic Jamaican dishes. Ensure your staff is safeserve certify this way they are not walking around with a dirty cloth band aide on their finger while handling food. At a minimum gloves should be woren.

My first time coming here and the customer service was excellent. I ordered the $14.50 Beef short ribs with jerk sauce and candy yams, as well as oxtails the yams were delicious. Unfortunately, I could not eat my short beef ribs due to the meat being overly seasoned, strong vinegar taste and being extremely hot to even eat. by me leaving and going home, I couldn’t take it back, so I just threw it away. For $22 you get three small oxtails. Macaroni is awful . Being from Brooklyn I had better.
