I agree with the last review, FLASH over substance. This is my second time visiting(bad move). I adore the atmosphere;, The lights, the plants, the music. However, the place is empty just like the last time?? I mean the last time was a Thursday night and maybe two or three other tables came in with us, But today there was one other table for lunch.
THE FLASH —> That’s how they lure you in, once you sit down, it’s all downhill. It’s completely true that you barely see a server the entire experience. They come over with water and a QR code; you order through your phone and extremely small portions for the price are brought to the table.
We (2 adults) ordered crab fried rice, and shrimp pad Thai. One drink, a 12oz glass filled with ice, of coke ($4 and no refills). After you place your order on your phone, the server brings your food and leaves – never to return. No checking on the meals or asking if you want a refill – just no communication or further interaction.
Once you finish your meal, you pay through the app and a 20% gratuity is added…. 20%?????? Virtually no interaction, server never said hello, never told us his name, didn’t even tell us how to order. I just saw the QR code pointed and he shook his head yes. At one point, I said “I don’t think he speaks English” to my husband…. ♀️ I’ll never know cause I’m never going back. The atmosphere just is not worth the value. I have to agree with the last reviewer. The food is the same level as Thai takeout, nothing fancy or special. Lunch for two today cost was insane at $75!!!! No alcohol, no appetizers no dessert.
However, they do use Polish pottery from the store pottery corner next-door(if you order tea). Now, if you’re in this quaint town and you wanna visit somewhere nice and you like art, Martha at The pottery corner is a sweetheart. Her Polish pottery inventory is stunning and she takes the time to tell you all about it. It’s really worth a look and at least a 15 minute walk-through this store. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised and end up staying 30 to an hour.
As far as Coco Thai – BUYER BEWARE!!!! Seriously, try the tavern or the restaurant on the corner or even the pizza place – I’m sure any will be better. If you’re really craving Thai food drive the 30 minutes into Philly and find some place with more value. You’ll be really disappointed if you eat here.
I will not be going back. Frankly, I don’t know how they stay in business??

This is the best restaurant I’ve been to in a long time. People complain in the comments but honestly they haven’t been to a restaurant before. The food is exquisite. The service is amazing. The atmosphere is completely authentic and covered in plants and beautiful lights. The music is quiet, the windows let in lots of natural light and I’m going to be in a good mood for the rest of the day. So, so. So good. Haters will hate!! Amazing restaurant. 10 stars.

I’ve been to this restaurant three times in the last year and while the food is good and the plants and lights in the restaurant are pretty, the service is severely lacking. The man who works upstairs and is the “host” is not welcoming at all. My wife and I came to this restaurant on a Tuesday night around 7:15 PM and upon walking upstairs we were swiftly told they were closing at 8:00 PM (which we knew). We immediately felt like we had to rush through our meal. I wasn’t a fan of the QR code menu system from our first visit but was thankful for it this night so I did not have to interact with the host.
Earlier this week on a Sunday night, knowing we were were coming with 4 adults and 2 children (3 years old and 6 months old), I called ahead at 6:00 PM to make sure we would be able to get seated around 6:30. I was told that would be no problem and there were not many people in the restaurant. When we arrived upstairs, we were told that we could sit, but we wouldn’t get food for maybe an hour or so since so may people just walked in. Upon closer observation to the people around, I noticed more than half of them already had their food and there were maybe 5 other parties in total. The host again, was not welcoming, apologetic and didn’t care that I had called earlier and gave us no other option than to leave.
Once we left, I deiced I would call to place a hypothetical take out order…I was told it would take about 25-30 minutes. I will not go back here, there are other great Thai places in our area. Save yourself a trip and go to Manorah Thai in Bryn Mawr or Delish Thai in Wynnewood.

This restaurant is absolutely divine. You’re greeted warmly from the very moment you step inside this gem for Thai food lovers. Love the lush plants that outfit the space from top to bottom. And I didn’t spot a single gnat! Sadly the plants aren’t for sale, but they should reconsider that. The restroom is also beautifully decorated and cleaned. I ordered the shrimp dumplings, pan seared striped bass and Thai iced tea and devoured everything. Great for a solo lunch, date or weekend meal with friends or family. I can’t wait to go back!

Always fresh food, lovely service. Everytime I try something different from the menu, I find another favorite. Top picks include steamed vegetable dumplings, narberth jungle, Thai basil and panang curry. My husband can’t get enough of the drunken noodles. We highly recommend Coco Thai Bistro.

Atmosphere: really, really cool. Love the plants. We went at a quiet hour and it was like sitting in a jungle. However, the room was very cold. Bring a light jacket.
Food: very tasty and well presented. Wide choice of spice level on everything. However, it was pricey.
Service: the people we interacted with were friendly, but there wasn’t much interaction. We were left to a table and given water then left alone. There is a QR code on the table to scan. Unlike most places though, it’s not just a viewing menu – you order from the link on your phone as well. Very unusual. They bring your food and don’t check up on you until it’s time to pay. The automatic 20% gratuity fee doesn’t make sense either since there’s really no table service.
Overall: good but expensive, very unique atmosphere that’s worth seeing, and not for people who love the “customer service” aspect of dining out. Good for the socially anxious though. It was nice but I’m not sure I’d go back!

Not quite sure why there is a 20% gratuity added to all dine in orders when you don’t even interact with a waiter to place your order. It feels like a scam. Then on the receipt they have a suggested tips breakdown option on top of the 20% gratuity that’s automatically added! If you have a question about a dish before you order, you have to get up and ask the person behind the counter or flag them down while they’re running food to the other tables. Not a good experience at all. I wouldn’t recommend takeout either, the food is not worth it for the price.

Flash over substance. Though very instagramable and aesthetically pleasing to be there, there’s not much else to say in favor of Coco Thai Bistro. When entering, it appeared empty of all customers and staff, only after wandering around did I realize I was supposed to go upstairs and find the one person working in the front of house. That was the only human interaction I had from that point forward as I ordered my food via a QR code. The food itself was solid, but certainly not worth the price as it was equivalent to cheap takeout in quality. To my surprise, there is an automatic 20% gratuity added to the already high price. Seeing as gratuity is meant for service and I interacted with no waiter, this frustrated me further.

Very cute restaurant with ambience and great food. So well decorated interiors. The food was also really great. We ordered Thai teas, chicken satay, red curry and pad see ew.
However they’re short on staff and somewhat expensive. Therefore ordering is all via phone and bar code. Other than that there’s not much to complain about this restaurant. If you’re passing by the Philly suburbs and craving Thai food, this place won’t disappoint you.

I ordered the Panang curry with vegetables and it was SO good! Delicious, fresh vegetables, the curry was perfect and it was a huge portion! I ended up saving half of it so I could enjoy it again for dinner
ETA: We came back! Ate at the restaurant. This place is SO cute! So many plants, you scan a QR code at your table and the whole process is so seamless! We ordered the same meals They were delicious!
