This little restaraunt is tucked away in a small neighborhood community, and I love finding hidden gems! I had my heart set on a hearty bowl of chicken soup and saw their online menu offered just that!
I grabbed a seat near the back and requested a menu from one of the staff.
Quickly, a basket of hot tortilla chips and bowls of salsa arrived at my table. I ordered the chicken soup (I was told there was no rice in it and based on the menu discription, it was not listed) and snacked on my offerings while I waited for my main dish.
To my surprise, a hot bowl of shredded chicken, tomatoes, onions and large chunks of avocado arrived at my table…a few bites in and I discovered rice loaded at the bottom of the bowl.
My waiter was fast at correcting the problem, grabbed my bowl and advised me he would “fix it”.
Although the new “bowl” was just as hot and full, I couldn’t help but wonder what happened to the chicken soup the menu had described and offered.
The one with broccoli, carrots and cauliflower??
Overall, I finished the salsa bowl and took my meal home to “fix” myself.
Although, I didn’t get the meal I had my heart set on, I did have a kind server who was quick at resolving any issues and always had a smile on his face.

I think the food is good, nothing different or better than the other Mexican American food in the area. It’s nice to have a restaurant close by, in an area not as busy as in the center of Westgate or Hillcrest.

I have eaten here many times with my wife and/or family. Food is consistently okay, not amazing or spectacular. Value for money could be improved by offering more unique foods & better meat quality. Food is overpriced by about 20% for what it is.

The property owner needs to put some money into revitalizing this building. It’s like he just rents it and never puts money back into it until a tenant complains or he “must” to keep it legal.

This restaurant is well off of the beaten path so they are fighting an uphill battle based on location alone. The restaurant is small but comfortable. Everything is priced very fair and the Chicken con crema was delicious. (I added extra Jalapeños and they gave me plenty!)

My only complaint was service. It was a little hit or miss. BUT this could have been an off day. (Everyone has them). I’ll absolutely go back.

For the short hand review:
Chips were hot and fresh
Salsa(including tomatillo) were delicious
EVERYTHING was hot and fresh
Prices were well below average

Stopped here while in town, got seated pretty quickly, one in our party did like the food, I didn’t see anything that sounded over the top need to try so I just had chips and salsa, pretty good, decor inside was cute and they had a decent crowd.

My husband, Doug, and I discovered this little gem over a year ago. It’s hidden behind another building at the 4-Way stop at Carolina Country Club Rd. A sign at the road with an arrow would probably be helpful to folks who aren’t familiar with the area. The owners and the staff really do care about what their customers’ dining experience is. They will attempt to make every meal meet their patrons’ expectations. The restaurant is very clean and well organized. Every lunch and dinner we had there was delicious and tasted like homemade. We didn’t do takeout.

They hosted a community “Meet Santa” and received a free Photo of their children with him right before Santa had to call for his reindeer. There was still much to do at the North Pole before Christmas!!

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and quickly seated. Food came out fast. Tasted great! Our waiter was friendly and polite — eager to please. They have a large menu with a variety of reasonably priced Mexican dishes. Can’t wait to go back to try something new.
