The food was amazing. I loved the dessert – coconut flan – i was skeptical at first but truly the taste made my day. One thing I noticed was – even though we were sitting outside, it felt too noisy. I suppose since it was outside seating everyone was enjoying it. The view from there is spectacular though. Reservations are definitely required.

Location is great, views can’t be beat! However this place is very overpriced for what it offers, a bit of a tourist trap if you will.

We tried the queso fundido, the ceviche trio, the enchiladas, the chicken, the tostada (got soggy super quick and was impossible to eat like a normal tostada), and the salad.

The food was ok in taste, nothing extraordinary. The price was super inflated. The ceviche trio was lacking in distinction – they all just tasted mostly the same. The toastada just had to have the toppings eaten off the shell – it was soggy and hard to cut. The salad was phenomenal, I did switch the blue cheese for cotija though! The flan (one of my favorite desserts) was not good so I didn’t finish it. The churros were delicious and hot!

As a one time visit, not bad and the staff was polite and accommodating. The views at dusk were also beautiful but the price and lack of authentic options leave me lacking.

The buffet was amazing. Everything but the cauliflower, was my favorite. The rice and tamales was tender. I loved the salmon and pork lion. I visited for Thanksgiving and was not sure what to expect for a Mexican cuisine. There was enough parking and such a large amount of space and seating indoor or out. The price was reasonable not over $90. The valet changed to self parking during 12pm times. I can’t wait to try this restaurant again and I have already told everyone to visit. I did not have too much contact with the service since it was buffet style. The Hostess could have given a warmer welcome. But, we have great memories there. The view, flavor, atmosphere and joyful presence was outstanding for the holidays.

We had a wonderful time! The food was really good and the view of the city and bay from the outdoor area was so beautiful, especially at night! Our server Wyatt was awesome. He was super kind, considerate, and checked in on us multiple during our meal. The best part was at the end of the dinner when they brought out a slice of cake with a candle for my mom’s birthday, it was a really nice moment and the cake was delicious. All around great experience. Would recommend for special occasions as well as casual dinning.

Initial part of the experience of Coasterra is parking. Self Parking was super tight, we also saw there was extra parking if you go past valet after the fact but I will say the signage is not too noticable. We got seated outside and what a view, this is definitely the star of the show. For food we ended up ordering the Ancho Chili Roasted Salmon (toasted quinoa, green beans, shaved cucumber salad, pasilla cream) and the Rainbow Trout A La Plancha (cilantro rice, arugula, pickled carrot & onion salad, habanero, guajillo aioli). We really liked both dishes, the fish was cooked to perfection. I liked the Rainbow Trout over the Salmon. I think for the Ancho Chili Salmon, there was an overpowering Ancho Chili flavor. Overall the food was nice, the server was great and the view was amazing!

The ocean view was beautiful, and we really enjoyed the sea breeze. We originally came to try the paella, but it turns out it’s only available for dinner. We ordered other seafood dishes instead, and everything was fresh and tasty. The service was attentive and friendly. However, one of our napkins had a lipstick stain from a previous guest. They replaced it right away, but it did take away a bit from an otherwise great experience.

Absolutely amazing experience. The skyline view alone makes it worth visiting — it was the perfect backdrop for a beautiful dinner. The ambience was on point: cozy, elegant, and vibrant all at once, creating such a great environment to truly enjoy the evening.

The food was excellent from start to finish. Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared, but the dessert really stood out — the churros were absolutely delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. Everything we tried tasted fresh and thoughtfully made.

On top of that, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Great food, stunning views, wonderful ambience, and excellent service — easily a five-star place. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back!

My friend and I had a quick dinner in Coasterra which is one of the best Mexican restaurants in San Diego, California. View from the restaurant across the bay was beautiful and charming. The dinner started with a complimentary chips and salsa, we got salmon and another dish that I know forgot and we had the churros for dessert. We also had mocktails since my friend was driving. I was told that reservation was essential since all restaurant in that area fill up really quickly. Food was great, refillable chips was a bonus. Salmon was very fancy and delicious. Churros were balls which was new to me. For a Sunday night, the place was not that full and there were a lot of vacant parking spaces. Good place to spend your night with family and friends.

Coasterra makes full use of its prime perch on Harbor Island: sweeping harbor views, downtown glittering across the water, and fire features that lend a low-burn glow. The white corn–poblano soup is a quiet standout—silky, sweet, and satisfying. The Staycation N/A cocktail is bright and unfussy, an actually good zero-proof option. And the layered jalapeño–corn “lasagna” delivers a cozy, cross-cultural charm. Come for the setting; stay because the kitchen puts in more effort than it has to.

View is amazing, but sometimes there’s a gross swampy smell. Food was mediocre. We had the trout and steak fajita. The trout was good, but needed more taste and less oil. The steak fajita was also a bit too oily and flavorless. Overall, food was overpriced. Service was fine. Everyone was very nice, though. Food came out pretty fast. The coconut flan was almost like a cheesecake, very dense, and it’s coconut because they add some coconut shavings on top. I wouldn’t really call it “coconut” for that.
