reservation was at 8. when we arrived, the table had to be set up so we waited 15 minutes, but that was no biggie. food didnt come until 9:30. waitress was great and super sweet. i would not recommend this place if you want to go anywhere else that day because you will be stuck for hours. photo attached is our table after an hour of waiting. wine took 20 minutes to come even though it was in the bar right behind us.

I recently dined at Coastal Grill and had a pleasant experience overall. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a stylish decor that made for a cozy dining environment. The service was top-notch; the staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our meal.
However, the food itself was just okay. While it was presented beautifully, the flavors didn’t quite live up to the ambiance and service. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t stand out either. I enjoyed my time there, but I hope the kitchen can elevate their dishes to match the excellent atmosphere and service.

I went to Coastal Grill to celebrate a special occasion. The salmon was delicious, definitely recommend. The lamb was good. The scallops were to die for, 10 out of 10 keeps you coming again. The side corn was delicious as well.
On the other hand, the shrimp and grits were not up to par. The added fresh tomato and pitted olives were questionable. Was not a fan of the potatoes either.
The ambiance and service are beyond exceptional.

Coastal Grill is a classic Virginia Beach restaurant that’s been around forever, and for good reason. I still remember going here before prom back in 2010, which just shows how long it’s been a staple in the area.
The food is delicious, the drinks are good, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. It’s one of those places that never really changes and always delivers.
Definitely recommend Coastal Grill a true Virginia Beach favorite.

It was booked, but we sat at the bar. Nice ambiance, the staff was friendly, and service great. I had amazing huge fried shrimp with a sweet chili aoili. Amazing. My friend had Mussels, had to be 100. My first cocktail wasn’t to my liking but bartender made me something else and it was better.

Service and atmosphere is good but the food was a big disappointment! Zero seasoning and bland .. they used too much butter to the point that you can’t taste anything else. Side squash was burnt. We ordered cake for dessert and it was super dry and dense. Doesn’t worth the $150

We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Coastal Grill last night. I asked for an intimate area. The area wasn’t private but it was quite and romantic. Our waitress Montana was great. The food was delicious. If we’re ever in the area again, we will re-visit. My husband is a big eater so he elected the fried flounder. The portion size was larger than my crab cakes. The orange martinis had the perfect amount of alcohol.

The food here was very good. I had 3 different types of shrimp but I did thank the shrimp could have been cleaned a little better in the shrimp cocktail. The fried shrimp with the chili aioli was the best out of the three and I had shrimp and grits and the cocktail shrimp as well. The service was good but it did seem like our server was getting frustrated but I dont know what for. I would go back for the fried shrimp.
