We had a fantastic experience at Coals this past weekend. The food was delicious and Caroline our server was amazing. Can’t wait to visit them again soon. We had the Waverly Pizza and the Brownsboro (chefs special).

Coals pizza was fantastic, We ordered the garlic herb bread sticks, the brownsboro pizza and a Portland pizza. The Portland being the white pizza with a roasted chicken and arugula topped with carmalaized onions. The brownsboro is my friend Sam’s go to pizza.
FANTASTIC flavor for the crust and bread! Lovely crispness with a perfect amount of crunch. The chicken was perfectly roasted and gave the beautiful smoked/ roasted flare to it while the caramelized onions also the bacon was fantastic to my taste and I feel many people would enjoy this.
Our server at the Middletown location was Caroline. She was very on top of all of our requests and gave us the attention and care I’d want in any server. Soft spoken, friendly, gentle with handling our orders.
Also the pictures below show our order and the look of the food. The Portland is the white pizza with arugula. I did not get a chance to try the brownsboro because I was too busy with the flavor of the Portland that I ordered. I highly recommend that anyone who likes honey with their white sauce chicken based pizza order the hot honey with it. I first tried honey on a white chicken pizza during my time in Chicago and found it fantastic. Works beautifully.

This pizza was a wonderful surprise. The pizza flavors were quite original and some we had never thought of before. The waiter was fantastic and made some excellent recommendations. Overall, some of the best pizza we have had in a while.

We have been here once before and liked the pizza, but we waited over 15 minutes and no one came to take even our drink order. We couldn’t catch any of the servers’ attention and it seems no one was assigned to our table. A group came in after us and they were immediately helped, so we eventually ended up leaving.

Had heard Coals had really good pizza so we went and ordered pizzas to take home. While we waited we had a drink at the bar. Our bartender, Zoey was very personable and friendly. She made the best most flavorful drinks for us. She had such a great personality and was very attentive to our needs. The waiter, Xavier was so polite and kind and we really enjoyed his attentiveness to making sure all our needs were met with a friendly smile. Both Zoey and Xavier made our experience so fulfilling that we went back a few days later and we had another very positive experience thanks to our waitress Caroline. She was so friendly and we received our food in a timely manner. It was so hot and delicious. All the food we purchased from our two trips was very delicious and I’m so glad we went to try it out. Coal’s is going to be a regular go to place for the food, drink, efficient bartender, and wait staff and the atmosphere was spot on. I’d definitely recommend going there and if you are lucky enough to get Xavier, Caroline, or Zoey tell them Momma T recommended you!

Been told to go here for many years and finally was in the area to check it out. Pizza is delicious beautiful leoparding on the crust the sauce tasted delicious. The cheese was flavorful and delicious pepperoni was nice and crispy. Pizza was delicious. I would definitely come back to try the other pizzas. I love it when I find another good pizza restaurant in Louisville

Delicious! I just enjoyed a fantastic lunch of tomato soup, wedge salad (no bacon,) and sweet tea. I will definitely return to try the pizza and other offerings!

Best bartender in town and old fashioned ever. Good food and atmosphere. Just wish they didn’t close so early on Friday nights. This is one of our favorite places to go on date nights…actually we go to Coals weekly now.
All the waitresses and hostesses are great but we adopted Olivia and Hannah as family. Their service and energies were super awesome.
Update: we still go but not quite weekly anymore. Just not the same but a great spot with good food nonetheless. Still love their Buffalo wings and blue cheese. Hubby loves butchertown pizza and grandson loves the meatballs. The lobster pizza is good and so are the salads.
