This is the Vietnamese restaurants I remember from the 90s/early 2000s!!! In a day and age where you pay close to $20 for a bunch of noodles and maybe 3 slices of beef and 1 meatball that’s cut into 4 pieces, Co Do Hue South is an amazing restaurant where you’ll get a large serving of meat and a generous helping of noodles to go with it! The broth is plenty flavorful and comes out scorching hot! The staff are attentive, helpful:, and friendly! The restaurant is clean and the bathrooms are spotless! 10/10 would recommend! You will have plenty to eat for a very reasonable price!

This is our favorite Vietnamese local chain restaurant in the city. Easily our favorite place to get a bowl of soul warming pho. The combo rice plates are insanely delicious too and is actually really good bang for buck with so much food. The service is always pretty consistent and the waitresses are very welcoming. This is a super clean establishment too which is great to see as alot of Asian places tend to neglect this aspect of restaurant service. If I’m not mistaken the north end location has a more extensive menu but what they offer here is fine enough. Must tries are their fried chicken wings and/or squid. The seasoning is addictive. The tapioca dumplings have great texture and shouldn’t be slept on either. Bun Bo hue, sour and spicy soup, and og beef pho are all chef’s kisses!

I played poker at Pure and decided to stop in and try their pho since I’m a Vietnamese noodle enthusiast. I asked for some beef oil (nước béo) and hot tea. Surprisingly, for the first time ever, they told me they didn’t have any. I’ve eaten at hundreds of pho places, and this is the first time a restaurant said they didn’t have beef oil available.
When I tasted the broth, it had very little beef flavor, and the beef oil would have helped enhance it. The noodles were all stuck together, which makes me think they either weren’t rinsed with cold water or were left sitting in the bowl too long before serving. When that happens, the noodles clump up and the soup can’t properly absorb into them.
My tea still hadn’t arrived, so I had to ask for it again. The beef also didn’t seem like the AAA Alberta beef that most pho restaurants in Calgary use—it was a bit chewy, so it might be A grade or lower.
The broth tasted like it relied more on MSG and salt rather than a long bone simmer, and it was quite cloudy.
Overall, I’d give the pho a 2/5 and the service a 2/5. The only reason it’s not lower is because I’ve had worse pho before.

This is my first time at this location. I wasn’t aware they have been opened over three years here. The place is very clean and organized. We were politely greeted once we entered. The staff and owner are very pleasant, making sure we order the correct items. The soup is very hot and tasty. Good portion sizes as well. Very nice place. Will definitely be returning.

Went to have supper with a friend here on New Years Day! Our server was friendly, and the food was delivered to our table in a prompt manner. I had a vermicelli bowl with grilled shrimp. It was very tasty! The green onion cakes were good, and I enjoyed the Thai iced tea drink that I had. The food is very fresh. I hope to come back to this place soon!

Must try: Spicy chicken wings
These were hands down the best thing we ate, super crunchy and flavorful. Cooked to perfection!
I had the beef ball pho and it was delicious, and the other person had the spicy soup, both were huge portions so worth the price for sure. They were good, just needed a little salt.
The spring rolls for me were Average. They needed a lot of salt. Just a bit plain.
Service was amazing, the place was busy but we were well taken care of!

One our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. All the dishes we’ve had are great here. You have to try the chicken wings if you like deep fried chicken! Always a great meal and friendly staff!

The food was great! However, I asked one of the servers (the lady with glasses) for water, and she never brought it. She ended up talking to other customers, and this has happened multiple times before. Unfortunately, she still didn’t serve us, which was very disappointing.

First and foremost, I want to give a shout out to both the servers that were there. They were very nice and they gave us amazing customer service. The fur bowls that we got were absolutely delicious. This is the best fun in Edmonton so far that we have found the spiciness level is perfect and the broth flavour is immaculate. It does take some time for the food to come out, but it is surely worth the wait.
