Phenomenal all around experience. The selection of options is plentiful. They offer daily specials even on the weekend. I got the fried flounder and with all dinners they let you pick three different sides. I live up north so we are hardly given the option of fried green tomatoes or fried okra so those are the two that I picked along with the coleslaw. I believe all dinners also come with your choice of a roll or a piece of cornbread. My husband got the fried chicken and the pieces were huge. Everything fried was very lightly coated but crispy.

Historic Local Eatery… nostalgic feel, great service, large portions, great food… go try Clyde’s… don’t be too critical of this blast from the past… no one is perfect. Enjoy your meal, and the chance to dine where multiple generations have before you. By the way that special taste in the coleslaw is apple cider vinegar according to Clyde’s.

This is small hole in the wall restaurant. We were passing through going to Norfolk and decided to stop here. We were not disappointed. If you love steak, try the ribeye sandwich!! It’s the best I’ve ever had. Everything else was great too.

We came on a Sunday afternoon- 1:00 pm. The parking lot was pretty full and upon entering, we had to go on a list. After about 15 minutes, we got a table. It took about 15 minutes for us to place our order, and another 20 for us to get the food. I got the chicken strips entree with mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, and french fries. It came with rolls and a side of ranch sauce. The food was honestly mediocre. The french fries were good, and so were the chicken strips. The other two sides tasted fake and full of preservatives. The service was also lacking, in some ways. Our server seemed to prioritize others over us, which made me feel unwelcome. I unfortunately will not be returning to this restaurant.

Horrible! We went because of the great reviews. It was awful!! I’ve eaten better in a school lunchroom. Potatoes cold and instant. Green beans no salt and tasteless. Country fried steak covered in canned gravy. Mac-n-cheese straight from a box. Not to mention my husband and I got food poisoning symptoms a few hours after eating there.

Best hometown diner ever! The portions are grand and the cooking is like going to my grandma’s. Even the side salads are awesome and so fresh! The gals handling service are terrific, efficient and so friendly. Don’t pass up the chance!
