First off, the service. I wish I had written down the name of the young lady (hostess, I would think) who answered the phone. She was exceptionally helpful and offered to bring the order to my vehicle because I am disabled and asked whether they offered curbside.
Point to note: if you are ordering to-go and need utensils or napkins – ask for them. I see how we got here. Those things cost money. I just would love if restaurants made a practice of asking whether we need them when ordering takeout.
Back at the hotel (‘next door’ to Club 14) I was so looking forward to this chicken Caesar salad. See photos. The chicken was unseasoned and dry, dry. The croutons were like those of a 1980s salad bar before we knew the wonders of a good brioche crouton, which can be freshly made in-house for pennies-on-the-dollar. I ate the salad, but it was super underwhelming.
Next, the mushroom Swiss burger. This is one of my go-to litmus test items anytime I order a burger at an unfamiliar spot.
Visually, it was almost perfect. I had to lift the top bun in order to see that there were mushrooms on my burger. There were 5 or 6 slices. In my opinion, maybe half of what should have been on an $18 burger. The Swiss cheese was perfect. Bun, toasted beautifully. Inviting crust on the outside of the burger patty. Upon first bite, I cannot detect any hint of seasoning on this patty. I go in for a second bite and realize that the texture is…off. I break open the patty, which is not the same inside as any medium-rare I’ve had anywhere in the nation, and am now finished eating that. Just the burger part, though. The bun, few mushrooms, and cheese were tasty.
Let’s talk about those sweet potato fries, though. While I would really have liked some salt on the fries – these were the best sweet potato fries I’ve had. While traveling, I did not have salt on-hand). They were the perfect cut (that sweet spot in between a shoestring and a steak cut) and fried in clean oil that brought exactly the right flavor from the yams.
Would I go back? Yep. I would order my burger ‘medium’ and salt my fries, skipped lackluster Caesar and pick a new item to try.
Pizza was perhaps the worst pizza we have ever had. The picture looks a lot better than it is. Soggy, raw, small and much worse than a frozen pizza. The rest of the food was edible but not great — portions were small as well.
An employee even admitted that Chuck E. Cheese makes better pizza than this restaurant.
Definitely regret coming here. Gross meal and small portions for $85 for 2 adults and 2 kids.
Building and atmosphere are cool/good.
Ordered the truffle mac, and they sent it out without the truffle and they discounted only the truffle, didn’t even eat the entire dish. Pasta was not drained and it was in a soup of cheese sauce, very soupy, not appetizing.
