What a beautiful experience we had! The place is amazing, the interior design ooze that old style French elegance, is opulent without being overwhelming. The service was excellent, from the waiters to the sommelier they proved professionalism, elegance and friendliness. We felt spoiled, thank you! The wine list is extensive, good prices also. We chose the 4 steps menu and the food was delicious, very balanced and imaginative. One Michelin star 110% deserved.

Can’t wait to visit you again!

Just impressive, we had an awesome Christmas evening with an outstanding menu. Everything was delicious and the staff were so friendly and welcoming to us as we never experienced before. The courses were great and the wines matched perfectly. We had a great time and we will be back soon.
P.S. there was a guest at a table next to us who showed a behavior more than unfriendly (you can read his comment here), but be sure to, the staff will do their very best to make you happy. Sometimes people are not willing to be happy, but stay rude. This guy was even rude in the lobby of the hotel before we met him again in the restaurant.
And yes, sometimes you are experiencing strange behaviors, but such a behavior makes you laughing.

Unfortunately, my visit didn’t live up to what I would expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant.

I clearly mentioned in advance that I don’t eat cheese. Despite this, one of the courses was cheese-based and, instead of a proper alternative, I was served a bowl of plain lettuce. There was no thoughtful salad, no creativity, just a simple bowl with a few leaves. I have genuinely never experienced anything like that in a restaurant, especially not at this level.

When I pointed it out, the response felt dismissive, as if my concern wasn’t taken seriously. I raised it with the server, and then a manager came over, but it felt more like they were “hearing me out” than actually addressing the issue. Rather than taking responsibility, I was met with pushback and the explanation that it was simply because I don’t eat cheese. Only after I explained that a restaurant charging €240 per person for the tasting menu, excluding drinks, should still be able to offer a comparable alternative did they finally bring a small substitute dish. Even then, there was no real attempt to make up for the experience.

For the price and reputation, I expected far more flexibility, hospitality, and attention to the guest. The food itself was good, but the way this situation was handled overshadowed the evening.

We left with a €700 bill for two people and an unpleasant aftertaste. We didn’t feel taken seriously.

Nice experience overall and staying at the hotel made it very convenient. The service was brilliant from start to finish and we were looked after as soon as we entered. The food was beautifully presented, though it did not excite us – it was fine and sometimes tasty but never truly memorable. The wine pairings were also fine, but we did not receive much information about them beyond origin, possibly due to the language barrier as we do not speak French. There was little explanation about how the wines complemented the food or why they were chosen. For the price, I was hoping for more, but it was still a good visit.

We had high expectations and felt like there is room for improvement here. Each course was nicely presented, but each had at least one “thing” that we left us a little disappointed. For example the tortellini was underdone (not al dente, just a little raw dough). The wine pairings were “ok”. The servers often set the dishes down at the wrong angle. Etc. And yes we are being picky, but at 500+ euros each for dinner plus pairings and extras, I feel like picky is appropriate. Just generally the value wasn’t there for the price.

A feast for the palate! This restaurant impresses with extremely fresh products straight from the producer. The wonderfully presented dishes of French cuisine, combined with Japanese and Alpine flavours, are a delight for the senses. The young and extremely courteous team created a pleasant atmosphere, although the young man at the table still seemed a little unsure – but all beginnings are difficult. The sommelier, who shone with his expertise, deserves special mention. We felt completely at ease and enjoyed every moment. Keep up the good work!”

My visit to Clos Du Cèdre in Beaune was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by incredibly friendly staff who set the tone for the evening.

The presentation of the food was impeccable, and the sommelier’s knowledge was truly remarkable, enhancing our dining experience with perfect wine pairings.

The tasting menu was a culinary masterpiece, each dish crafted with precision and thoughtfulness. The highlight was undoubtedly the personal touch of the chef greeting us at the end of the night to ensure our satisfaction.

The interior design of the restaurant was phenomenal, creating an elegant yet comfortable atmosphere that added to the overall experience.

Thank you to the team at Clos Du Cèdre for a riveting evening that we will remember fondly

On my way to finish my 3 stars challenge (follow me for the reviews), we made a stop at Beaune for the night. We were lucky enough to get a table there.
So what’s interesting here? A young chef in an old house.
Let’s get the old house subject out of the way first. It’s in a beautiful master house, offering several rooms for you to dine.
The chef is quite young and although he had some experience, he seems to create his own path. The langoustine is a good example. You can see him exploring and coming up with his own experience.
The price is very decent for a one star dinner, even if you take the full menu (that’s what we did).
The crowd was very international. May be it was the day, but I guess it’s also because of the city business (wine). Obviously a lot of customers were in the industry. But I think it’s great for couples (I spotted some) because you can easily be in your own bubble.

The service got better after a busy beginning and they ended up being extremely nice, even quite touching in one case.

It’s a solid one star.

Magnificent. An absolutely unforgettable meal. Every aspect of the evening was thoughtfully implemented. Each dish was phenomenal, and prepared with heart. And the prices were also fantastic. I’d fly back to Beaune just to eat here again. Complements to the chef!! I’m quite sure their next Michelin star is just around the corner!!!

Delicious meal in a gorgeous 19th century house, but a bit too fancy / less relaxed for my personal preference (this is on me not on them, I hadn’t realized when I booked). V high quality tho, accommodating for allergies, and the mangalitza pork was a standout dish of the trip
