The Clipper has the best tavern fare in the city, no question. High-quality appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, and a Wagyu chili dog that’ll win #1 in the state!

Stopped in for some drinks and an appetizer before heading to a dinner reservation. This has the prices of a dive bar, but is anything but that! Low key but nice atmosphere. We happened to be there for happy hour and left with a sublimely reasonably tab. Great selection of craft beers on tap. Love me some IPA! The fries rocked, as did the bartender… an incredibly down to earth, attentive and personable. I plan to return, love the place!

We love the food but they are slow in the off-season. If you’re ok with waiting a bit it’s fantastic! Never had a bad dish, staff is awesome, and beer selection is great!

Walked in here for a quick bite after a 3 hour drive in a Nor’easter. Food is cheap and amazing, homemade ranch is to DIE FOR. Go on a Sunday and you’ll never want to leave. Karaoke is phenomenal I almost felt the need to pay the performers. A true local bar I feel lucky to have been apart of.

We found this great little spot by reading reviews, and we’re glad we stopped in. The drinks were good, and the food was all homemade and very reasonably priced. It’s in a less busy area than a block over down by the water. The service was a little slow but very nice. We will be back. We ordered the sliders and fish and chips. The White sangria and house mai Tai were yummy!

The food was great. I got the hot pastrami and my partner had the chicken tenders and we both enjoyed our meals. Waitress was awesome. We will definitely be back!

Betsey the owner was drunk on the evening my guest and I went in for a drink. She was talking with her work staff seemed like an end of day meeting when I overheard her being rude as hell to her staff about how they need to figure it out and she needed to call an uber for herself. Then she came into the dinner area and looked at my guest and I said in the most rudely way with a nasty face to get out cuz they were closed. I was very taken back at how rude she was while being drunk as she was in her bar her business to treat guests that way. I was told by a couple workers that she was just “drunk” but excuse me for saying I’ve never gone to someone’s establishment and have had such a rude interaction with an owner at the end of day or end of shift situation. All so appalling and for Portsmouth. So sad to see the downfall the town has had. Hopefully she gets the help she needs and can start going to AA and not become the dented can.

Stay away from this place. They talk behind your back after you’re seated and stick you with a geriatric waitress who comes to your table and says, “Take your drinks off of my tray.” Apparently it is too much work for her to do it herself. Plus you will never get your food after waiting eons and eons. I think she doesn’t know how to put the order in with the kitchen.
