I came to this spot because I saw a food influencer come into town and review this restaurant. He said it was mid at best so I decided to try it out for myself. My husband and I spent a total of $50+ for an order of wingettes (6 pc), w/ side of Mac and Cheese, combo plate of fried catfish (3 pcs) and (4) chicken wings, green beans w/potatoes, Mac and Cheese ,also came with a “Honey Butter” muffin.
Now let’s get into the atmosphere. This place is small and was very busy and crowded on this particular Saturday afternoon. The menu has a QR code so upon walk in you don’t see or can pick up a menu. We ordered our food and was told there would be a 45 minute wait. While waiting we noticed that most of their patrons were pick up orders online. They are located in a storefront that doesn’t have a parking lot, street parking only. There was a lot of pull up turn on hazards and run in going on.
Now let’s get to the food and the flavor of it all.
The Mac and Cheese tasted like it was made with cream cheese No Cheddars
The Chicken Wings were tough and heavily peppered, overly salty.
The Fried Fish was soggy 0 % crisp and tasted like it was seasoned in the same seasoning as the Salty Peppery Chicken
The Green Beans and potatoes were overly salty and Peppery as well
The Corn muffin was jiffy muffin mix that was dry with honey butter poured on top.
OVERALL I’D GIVE THIS RESTAURANT A 4 OUT OF 10. WOULD NOT GO BACK. I WILL SAY UPON THE OPENING OF THE FOOD IT LOOKED DELICIOUS AND SMELLED GREAT BUT THE TASTE JUST DID NOT GIVE WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE FOR THE PRICE AND THE WAIT.

Keith Lee wasn’t wrong…. This food was phenomenal. Big fan of the muffins omg. I loved everything and it was indeed worth the wait!! We waited an hour, they forgot our chicken but I went back in to let them know and they gave me chicken in like 2 mins. Amazing crunch and super juicy!!! Everything was delicious. 100000/10. The spot is small and it’s takeout only that’s why I rate atmosphere a 3.

I heard good things about this restaurant but HEY you can’t believe everything you hear! Where do you start. Okay let’s start with the Fish, it’s was SALTY and the grease was dirty. Fish super DARK. Mac was like over watered down noodles. With sprinkles or remnants of cheese. The sweet potatoes yams had no butter just sugar water and cinnamon. I’m just saying this wasn’t it. No bathroom I had to go up the street to use the LUE! Choose wisely!

Very welcoming and polite customer service. Food was 10/10 and made very fresh – we took it to go and made it 20 minutes out before we dug in and it was still hot! We have to stop by every time we’re in the Chicago area. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough!

Keith Lee????? Ain’t no way you rated this that high saying it’s the best place to eat in Chicago. My bfs wings had to be hours old. No flavor or fresh at all. I feel like the only thing made fresh here is the fish (what I ordered) they put everything in one plate making the fish soggy from the yams and the overly buttered corn muffin. The fish was salty to me but way better than his chicken. The greens beans…….. way too much garlic and onion powder. The fish doesn’t need that extra sauce idk what it was lol it just made it more soggy. I wish I had hot sauce packets it would have helped with the saltiness. I wouldn’t eat here again. The workers were nice tho..

Food delivery lived up to the hype! Customer service was great! Very small on the inside, you would be lucky to get a chance to sit down and eat. This is definitely more of a order and wait or order ahead and pick up and leave situation. I got lucky when I went. Definitely come every because they sell out towards the end of day. Got the catfish and chicken wings, chicken and waffle, and green beans. The catfish was great. The green beans had good flavor. Our only gripe is we had to wait 20-30 minutes for an in person order. It wasn’t crazy busy with people but the online/togo orders must’ve been crazy. It always sucks a bit to be in person and not prioritized though

The chicken wings were seasoned & fried to perfection and the sides were all delicious (green beans, crab mac & cheese & 24k gold muffin). The hype is real, the distance we traveled to get to the restaurant was well worth it, and I can’t wait to try everything else they offer on our next trip to Chicago!

My first time at Cleo’s. Customer service was great. Wait time was 45 minutes (but it was worth the wait). The food was amazing. I had the Float and Fly. It included 3 wings and 3 nice size catfish fillets and 2 sides and the golden muffin. The flavor of the food is indescribable. I definitely will be returning.

All the sides were not it. the sweet potato were decent the Mac and cheese was horrible it had cottage cheese in it or it was spoiled. Green beans were not it my grits was plain and on top of that my food was warm after waiting an hour. First and last time the juice was the best thing there. It definitely wasn’t worth what i spent but nice people at the register tho.
