Clay Oven in Plymouth is a real gem for Indian food in Minneapolis. The place has a bright, lively vibe that makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. The staff is friendly and our food came out super quick, which was awesome.

We kicked things off with Tandoori chicken and paneer kabab, and both were fresh and full of flavor—great start to the meal. The curries and Garlic Naans were spot on, but honestly, the biryani is where Clay Oven really shines. We tried the chicken, lamb, and veg biryani on different occasions and every single one hit the mark—super tasty and packed with all the right spices.

We also had a mango lassi, which was refreshing, and the kheer for dessert was a nice finish to everything. If you’re in the area and want good, quality Indian food, definitely put Clay Oven on your list—it’s one of those spots you’ll want to come back to again

I took my wife to Clay Oven as she enjoys Indian food, I don’t care this food generally…But this place is fantastic and the dish I had couldn’t have been better. She said it was also the best she’s had. We will be back!

It’s wonderful that Plymouth has finally become somewhere you can go to find amazing ethnic cuisines! The Clay Oven is one of the latest editions to this growing list of amazing and delightful restaurants.

The menu has an assortment of mostly northern Indian food with a few southern favorites included. My family enjoyed the appetizer sampler, lamb kabobs, coconut chicken curry, and chicken biryani. Everything was outstanding and fragrantly spiced! The biryani portion was big enough for a wedding celebration! I suspect if we would have ordered the biryani hotter, it would have come more traditionally spiced, but my company that evening did not have quite the spice tolerance I have.

The service was fast and super friendly. We also saw a lot of Indian customers which in my mind means this place is amazing!

The Clay Oven comes highly recommended from me. Pricing is on par with other Indian dining establishments but with slightly better value with their larger portions.

I’ve been to Clay Oven 5-6 times now, and it has been excellent each time. Great ingredients, seasoning, and cooking. This latest time, we ordered lamb biryani, chicken vindaloo, vegetable samosas, garlic naan, and mango lassis. All terrific. And Jitesh was our server and is a great guy. Great food, friendly and hospitable service, and a pleasant atmosphere. Will keep coming back!

Our first time to Clay Oven was great! As vegans, it can be very hard to find a good restaurant that accommodates us. The waiter and staff were very friendly and accommodating. They were especially friendly and accommodating to our 3yo twin boys. The food was outstanding and menu variety was excellent. We will be back!

Nov 10, 2025. About 9pm. We ordered a bunch of stuff for dine in and takeout.
Man-chow soup: horrible. No taste, not fresh. Plus it arrived after the main course. You’ve got to be kidding me.
Saag plate tasteless
Masala dosa had weird crumbs inside.
Mushroom dish, store made butter chicken sauce with sautéed vegetables is NOT HOW YOU COOK.
Service is pathetic. I would not recommend this to anyone. Owners: please see how your team is working

It took forever to take order and again same thing to serve. Spring rolls were refried for don’t know how many times, full of oil. Biryani was sweet, super oily. literally all food were in refrigerator for how many days, god only know. We do not prefer to visit again.
