I rarely write reviews, but I can’t stop thinking about the experience we had at Clandestino during a quick trip to Palm Springs this past week.
First, we can’t say enough about the service from our bartender, Hugo. I worked in the food industry for 10 years and have rarely met someone so passionate and knowledgeable about both the menu and the cocktails. My boyfriend is Mexican, and they ended up having a great conversation about tequila and mezcal—Hugo even shared unique backstories about several of the bottles on their shelf, which made the experience feel really special.
He also told us about the owners (the same team behind the beloved Farm), and it’s clear they’ve created an amazing culture with their staff.
My boyfriend is usually pretty critical of Mexican restaurants we try, but he couldn’t stop talking about how good the food was—especially for the price point. We live in Vegas, where it’s honestly hard to find this level of food, service, and ambience at the same price.
We ended up going back both nights we were in town, and I’m already looking forward to our next visit to Palm Springs so we can return.

Absolutely delicious! Everything about Clandestino checked off all of the boxes including the vibe, ambiance, menu options, cocktails and amazing service.

Clandestino lives up to its name as the “moody sister” of Tac/Quila – a stylish, vibrant spot with a cozy cantina vibe, lush seating, and stunning views of the San Jacinto Mountains. We ended up sitting at the bar on Saturday night since tables were full (no reservations that night), but it turned out to be a highlight – the two bartenders were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home.
We kicked off with the Oysters on the Half Shell, topped with fresh lime and a zesty pepper relish. They were delightfully fresh and briny – I couldn’t resist scooping up every bit of that relish even after the oysters were gone!
Next came the Jicama and Papaya Salad. My wife was expecting something closer to a Thai-style green papaya salad with shredded raw papaya, but this was a beautiful leafy green version with ripe, sweet orange papaya pieces. It was refreshingly delicious and vibrant – I (someone who usually skips leafy salads) devoured almost the entire thing!
For the main, I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas, smothered in a roasted poblano salsa and melty Oaxaca cheese, served with a side of arroz rojo. Wow – the chicken was incredibly succulent and flavorful, and that rice? I normally don’t eat much rice, but this was perfectly seasoned and tasty. Easily one of the best enchiladas I’ve had.
Drinks were a standout: The La Morena (an espresso martini twist with tequila and Licor 43) was rich, bold, and absolutely yummy. We also loved the Margarita Flight – a fun way to sample creative variations that were all perfectly balanced and refreshing.
Overall, an exceptional meal with fresh, elevated Latin flavors in a welcoming atmosphere. One minor note: Palm Springs tends to quiet down around 8-9 PM, but Clandestino stays open until 11 PM – perfect for a later dinner when seats open up. Highly recommend for anyone craving upscale Latin fare with great cocktails!

Wow, we had an absolutely incredible lunch at Clandestino today! I started with the jicama and papaya salad, crisp and refreshing, then followed it with the Cochinita Pibil, pure elegance; the pork was so rich it practically melted in my mouth. My husband’s Enmoladas (in the picture) were the real showstopper; he declared them the most flavorful lunch he’s had all year! Every bite felt like a treat, and it was worth every penny. We’re already planning our next visit!

The fried squash blossoms are a must-try, squash flowers stuffed with Oaxaca cheese, deep-fried, and served with a squash and corn salad. Such an interesting dish.
The short rib empanadas and chimichangas also came with a really good sauce.
Staffs are nice, good services and the restaurant with nice decor.

What a fun place. We had chips and guacamole, which was awesome, we also had stuffed squash blossoms…also amazing. The drinks were fun. I asked for just a plain old margarita, rather than all the fancy ones.
I had chicken fajitas, which were nothing special. However, the tortillas were amazing. The flan dessert was a total disappointment. Just awful texture that was mealy. I did not care for the addition of chocolate cake base.

Excellent restaurant, it truly has all the authentic Mexican flavor. I’m Mexican and the taste is exactly like it is.

The food is good, the service is a little slow, we were like 6 tables and thee were 1 bartender, 1 runner, 1 busses and 1 waiter, a host and a manager, so the service got slow. All in all I liked the food, I don’t know why should I paid for a bottle of sangria full of recycled fruit which is the only explanation I see tk the fact that you cannot eat the fruit inside the pitcher. The waiter told me nobody but the bartender can open them cause they’re very expensive, what kind of explanation is that, I’m paying for the fruit in my sangría to eat it not to have it recycled after I finish and second of all im a grown up im not gonna break a pitcher by opening it in the same way I didnt break their dishes or glasses. My only explanation is that the sangria is refilled in that recycled fruit over and over and over again thats they dont let you eat the fruit.
I dont think I should pay for a sangría if I can’t eat the fruit inside which is drenched with the wine I paid for.
They say they have chocoflan but what they sell is chochocheesecake it was not fresh at all.
