Amazing restaurant, food was absolutely spectacular. Service was impeccable, and a charming atmosphere. I dined by myself, so it was a little awkward by myself in the upstairs dining room. If I were to dine again by myself, I would probably choose the bar. Otherwise a perfect evening.

Everything about this overhyped restaurant is good- except the food. To the positives: great wine selection, cozy and authentic atmosphere, great decor and ambiance, fantastic attention service. The areas for improvement: better food- and just reasonably sized (smaller) portions. The food was below average and the enormous amount in each plate cheapens it even more, there’s no quality. Everything is heavily fried or creamed, we had a party of almost 20 people and no one could finish their mains. It felt like big portions of bad poorly executed food, and heavy creaming and saucing to disguise the lack of flavour.
The bread was the best part of the meal.
Also the acoustics are absolutely horrible, it was so loud that I could barely speak with the person sitting right across me.

New Orleans Classic That Still Surprises

Clancy’s is the kind of restaurant that reminds you why New Orleans is one of the great food cities in the world. From the moment you walk in, the room wraps around you with that unmistakable Uptown warmth — elegant without being pretentious, lively without being chaotic.

The food is exceptional across the board. Every course is balanced, deeply flavorful, and clearly made by a kitchen that knows exactly who it is. You taste confidence in every bite. I had a full progression — first course, second course, entrée, and dessert — and not a single dish missed. It’s the kind of meal that makes you slow down, savor, and actually enjoy being at the table.

But the real standout of the night was the service.
Patrick was phenomenal. Attentive without hovering, warm without overstepping, and genuinely invested in making the experience feel personal. He read the table perfectly — the kind of intuitive hospitality you can’t teach. When someone like Patrick is running the show, you feel taken care of in a way that elevates the entire evening.

Clancy’s isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a ritual. A place where the food, the people, and the atmosphere all work together to create something memorable. If you’re in New Orleans and want a meal that feels both classic and alive, this is the place.

We really enjoyed our meal at Clancy’s. The food isn’t flashy or “trendy”, everything is very classic and old fashioned, in the absolute best way. Simple flavors paired with expert technique, and massive portions. Make a reservation. Our one criticism is that the turtle soup was lacking. It tasted more like vegetable or minestrone, and was far less turtle in it that other restaurants we’ve tried.

This is one of the true gems in New Orleans! Oysters with baked Brie are GREAT, and the wine list is excellent. You can tell that locals dine here. Service was phenomenal.

New Orleans has a lot of great restaurants. If I had to pick one, it would definitely be Clancy’s. The staff are all super-friendly & fun. The uptown New Orleans vibe is flowing. The menu is amazing. Choosing what to order is the big challenge here. You can’t go wrong with any of them. The wine list is fabulous! After this trip we have decided to fly to New Orleans just to visit Clancy’s at least once a year. It’s that good!

Delicious food and outstanding service. My husband had the smoked soft shell crab and I had the fish special (speckled trout). Both were just amazing.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city. It has outstanding turtle soup and the fish meunière is always delicious. I haven’t ever been slightly disappointed with the restaurant.

Beautiful old school restaurant with white table cloth service and delicious food.
Fried oysters with brie were crunchy and full of flavor, batter was seasoned well, addition of the brie was great but I would have preferred it to have been a little more heated so it melted over the oyster. Crawfish Clemenceau was good but more potatoes than anything else. Gumbo was delicious, deep color and rich flavor but unfortunately was barely warm, wish it were hotter. Cobb salad was amazing, could easily have fed 3 people. The chicken in it was hot and moist and tender. Crawfish Etouffe was delicious. Lemon icebox cake was tart and the cream wasn’t too sweet. A perfect end to a lovely meal.
