I’m not usually much of a breakfast person, but CJ’s Kitchen & Grille completely changed that for me. Somehow I managed to finish my entire meal because it was just that good. I ordered the andouille sausage with scrambled eggs and hash browns and was really impressed with how flavorful everything was.

It did come with a pastry underneath, which ended up getting a little soggy and wasn’t my favorite part, but it was still fine overall. The beignets were absolutely to die for and definitely something I’d order again. My friend got the corned beef with a fried egg and hash browns and she really enjoyed hers as well.

The only downside was that I wish the outside looked a bit more welcoming as it does on the inside with all the portraits of people! There were also quite a few flies around while we were there but it didn’t really stop me from enjoying my meal, rather just annoying. That said, the food and service were both very good and made the visit worthwhile and I would happily come back again!

We loved this place. Kids raved about it for years and we finally made it.

Service was great, food was great. Cozy breakfast and lunch diner. Highly recommend.

We will definitely go again.

I always look for the best local eats when on vacation and CJ’s did not disappoint. Everyone was soooo friendly and the food was FANTASTIC and so affordable….the crab cake Benedict a must have..only $13.95, most other restaurants charge anywhere from $18-$25. Packed full of crab not a bunch of fillers.
We will be back for sure

You ever wonder about places that are only open for a few hours, have a loyal customer base, and seem to have been around forever? This is one of those enigmatic places. My father, who’s ancient, told me that this place used to be a late night spot, but now it’s only open until 2pm for breakfast/lunch.

It’s worth it to drag yourself out of bed on the weekends or to sneak away from work during the week to make it to this place. The waitresses act like they’ve known you forever, the food is surprisingly complex in flavor, and the prices are more than reasonable for what you get.

Their fried shrimp is butterflied and panko breaded, making them super crispy. One of my favorite fried shrimp in the area.

The standout star of my meal was their special…the pot roast on mashed potatoes. I expected something standard and hearty, but not special. I was wrong. It was something worthy of high-end dining. There was a green and floral element from the peppercorn sauce unctiously coating the tender meat that melted in my mouth. I’m sure I heard angels singing. I’m so glad the waitress convinced me to get the special that day because it’s now one of my most memorable meals.

The beignets were a bit thicker than I’m used to, but they’re vehicles for powdered sugar, so I can’t complain.

The atmosphere is simple – lots of painted portraits on the walls, clean, and very diner-like. I know people go nuts over the Coffee Cup, but I think CJ’s deserves just as much hype. Don’t come in here dragging a giant party of people. It’s cozy and best for a 2-3 person dining experience. It gets a bit cramped at 4+.

Hidden gym with AMAZING food. Luckily we looked at Google first because if we had just drove by we definitely would not have stopped. The outside is definitely deceiving! Please don’t let that stop you from coming in and giving them a shot

So I’m an Eggs Benedict addict. Traditional, salmon, smoked salmon, advocado, Florentine, asparagus are all good! I’ve never had a Crab Cakes Benedict and it was far and away the best I’ve ever had in my culinary experience. I told the very nice waitress not to change the crab cake recipe. I’ve had a lot of crab cakes too and their take put this Benedict over the top on so many levels. The wife even asked if I tasted it since it was nearly inhaled since it was so good.
Nicely done CJ’s!

CJ’s Kitchen & Grill has been serving the community since 2001. Nice little place with some downtown, hometown flavors and friendly service. Located on the western edge of Pensacola it’s got plenty of parking and is clean and nicely decorated with small paintings of people. Service is quick, just come on in and have a seat and your service will start. They have a small counter and several tables.

Food is ready quickly and it comes out hot and delicious. I’ve had the eggs and grits as well as the gravy biscuits with sausage! All plated up right and tasty too!

If you’re out on Barrancas ave it’s about two blocks up Pace on Garden. Fully recommend you come with your appetite.

Updating my review. It was five stars but after my experience today I won’t be returning. We waited 45min for a table which isn’t a problem. We were given a booth and being plus sized, I got stuck and was extremely embarrassed. I went outside cried for a bit then came back in and saw a table was empty. Yes it needed to be cleared but as a woman with a baby I sat down at the table leaving room for the waitress to clear it. She was very rude about it and demanded I should’ve waited as asked. There was no where for me to go. The front of the building was slammed and I couldn’t fit in the booth. I started crying and tried to explain and she just didn’t care. We’ve been coming here every Pensacola visit for years but I will never come back after being humiliated in front of a restaurant full of people. So I’m going home crying and hungry. Thanks CJ’s

We are from Alabama, however every time we visit Pensacola Beach a stop at CJ’s is mandatory! The food is delicious/affordably priced & the service is exceptional! As a same sex couple (and now family) we always get nervous trying small local diners. We’ve been welcomed with open arms since our first visit three years ago and continue to be greeted with warm smiles and a wonderful experience.

Friendly little breakfast place. A little bit on the grungy side both inside and out. There was plenty of parking and it was not busy. The cook is right there in the front room, you can watch your food being prepared.

The staff is exceedingly friendly and the service is excellent. The eggs are also perfectly cooked to order. Unfortunately the hash browns were absolutely drenched in some kind of butter-flavored oil that left a huge extremely salty pool on the plate. The sausage patties were gritty, dry and inedible. However the coffee was good.

I was kind of on the fence between 3 and 4 stars but the service was really good.
