I love partying at CJ’s. Music is great and the Rocket Fuel hits the spot every time. The is a dj here every Friday and Saturday on the weekends.

CJ’s was a great time. Good live music, staff was very friendly and attentive and food and drinks were excellent. I got the wings and was happily surprised with how fresh and tastey they were! Rocket fuels were also probably the best i had on the strip, many of the others were way too sweet with amaretto.

No crying / screaming kids or you will legitamently be asked to leave – pretty good policy for a bar :).

They also had several TVs around the bar playing the games.

This was a fun little bar. The bar tender was great, she recommended drinks and took requests for music. The crowd was in a good mood and dancing all evening even though it was pouring outside. I would live to try thier food sometime but we ate before going out.

I get it, dive bar, but what I shouldn’t expect is hair in the breakfast that they cover for the Palms and a bug floating in my water. I gave them another chance after stopping by for a drink the day before and I won’t be back.

I have visited this place on the 4th of July for many years and I always have a great time. The bartenders have always been friendly, they played good music, and the ambiance was great. Today there was a different staff. A few friends of mine were requesting some songs to be played and the bartender said each song request was $5. She put the money in her pocket, played the song for 20 seconds, skipped it and when asked about it she said “if you don’t like it, go somewhere else.” Probably won’t be visiting this place ever again.

One of the rudest bartenders I’ve ever came across in my life. Screamed at us for not “ordering quickly enough.” The bartender was a guy, didn’t get the name but was the worse service I’ve ever gotten on fire island or anywhere else. Very disappointing because as a bartender myself I typically super understanding.

A group of us have been coming to CJ’s for a few years now. At first, we started coming in the off season in the winter, but now it is a staple and a much needed destination for us when visiting Fire Island both with friends and family all year long. The chili and chowder are phenomenal and burgers are spot on. We ask Rob Weber for suggestions on what to eat, but the truth is that you would be hard pressed to find a bad choice on the menu. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. Aside from Rob who is fantastic, Jimmy is both attentive and hysterical. And the food is ready pretty quick so you don’t have to wait. Don’t miss this place when coming to Ocean Beach. You won’t be disappointed!

9/1/2015:

I visited this restaurant this past Saturday w/ friends. (There were about 11 of us). The ambiance is nice, the seating was chic. There is not enough space to maneuver from one side to the other of the bar unless no one is standing/sitting around the hump of the bar. It’s much easier to go around by leaving the venue and re-entering the other set of doors.

The food was delicious, everyone enjoyed and I heard no complaints. I got the fish and chips while others got the skirt steak or burger or a salad. I, personally, did not feel good after returning home. I got the chills and puked up dinner for a good 2 hours. The fish tasted fresh except for one small part was more fishy than the rest of it, but nothing was putrid.

The rocket fuel was a hip drink. We asked what the happy hour / half off specials were on drinks. Our server said that it was everything on the triangular plastic thingy on the tables. We were led to believe that Rocket Fuel was included in the deal, but when we got the tab, it was fuller than full price! They charged us $14.00 when it was listed as $12.00 and we were under the impression that it was $6.00 per round.

The manager came out and greeted us which was kind. He was very cheerful.

Bathrooms were decent. They’re both unisex = faster people flow. They look small from where you’re waiting, but when you go in, they’re quite spacious.

Music was the best. They had been playing a lot of 90’s music, which we all reminisced in. They had large screen TV’s around, and because of the horse races, they blasted the volume when it was peak in the race for the clientele who were interested in it. But they forgot to turn it down and we had to send someone to the bar to have it muted. We could barely speak over the sounds from the loud music and the TV. We had asked our waitress 3x but apparently she forgot 3x.

Later on, in the evening around 10PM CJ’s transformed into a night club playing Latina music. It was hopping.

Good food. Still kinda pricey for bar food but it’s Fire island so you expect tourist prices. It was extremely loud so we had a hard time talking to each other. The rocket fuels were pretty tasty though. Overall I think it’s a good place to get some food and a couple of drinks, just expect to yell a lot!

Every year we go to CJ’s for 4th of July, and there is one bartender that’s worked there for many years and is great! But this year, there were 2 women behind the bar, one that was extremely rude and unprofessional. We requested a song/type of music and were told by her that we need to pay $5 (for her to just pocket) and then after actually paying it, she played only half of the song. Her attitude was horrible. On top of it, they were discriminating against our group. we were told they could only play “house music” in order to keep the crowd in the bar, that was majority white people. If this is the future of CJ’s we won’t be going back.
