City Tavern has a great vibe that makes it an easy spot to settle into. I ordered the grilled chicken wrap and it came out surprisingly good, fresh, and exactly what I wanted. Service was friendly and fast which is always a win. The only miss was the fries. Zero seasoning. Not even a pity sprinkle. Tried to add pepper and salt to save them and it helped a little but they should come pre seasoned. That’s the only reason this isn’t a full five. Still a solid place and I’d definitely come back.

Stopped in the City Tavern one evening and sat at the bar. I ordered a few shots and the French kiss me cocktail and it was delicious. The sauced wings (buffalo) were ok, but the plain wings was tasteless. I ordered the corn beef rueben and expected it to be sliced on the sandwich but instead it was more like pot roast consistency. So it kind of through me off. Overall the bar had good atmosphere and I would go again, but would order something different to eat.

My buddy and I visited for the weekend expecting to hit all the bars on Short North and we only spent our time at this one. The hospitality was great, the food was excellent, and the bartenders treated us like regulars. Dani, Lakin, and another bartender made us feel like locals. We spent Friday night, Saturday before the OSU game, and Saturday after the OSU game here. This will always be on my list when I come back to Columbus.

Layne was a great bartender, he told us about the Monday specials – $4.50 Christmas Ale on tap is unbeatable. The food here is incredible, came with friends, ordered the sampler which was perfect to split amongst three people. I ordered the reuben which was phenomenal, my friends got the grilled cheese and the buffalo chicken flat bread which were immaculate. The vibes here are perfect, great music, spacious, sports on TV’s, and amazing/quick service. New favorite spot in Columbus.

The City Tavern is in the “Wonder Bread” factory building on 4th St and Lincoln Avenue. We always drove past on my way to somewhere else. This year, we decided to try it out and found it a great place. It has an industrial vibe, and all the tables are high-tops. The space is open and airy, and they have free off-street parking just to the south.
We have now been to the City Tavern thrice and were pleased with the food and the service each time. We have had the Shredded Corn Beef Rubin, Tavern Quesadilla, and the Tri-City French Dip. All of the things we have eaten there have been fabulous. We go through the week when they are steady but not slammed the service has been superb, and the staff is attentive

Best staff and atmosphere ever! We went on a dead night and the bartenders kept us entertained all night! The french 76 kiss me is SO GOOD! Genuinely such a good energy and place to be!

It’s definitely a chill place to go for drinks & have a snack with friends. The only reason I gave it a 3/5 is because the service was not great the last two times I went there and the menu is misleading. Here’s a breakdown of my experience:
Food: I absolutely love that the kitchen is open until midnight! And the food really does taste amazing for being “bar food.” There are healthier options available, but I definitely recommend the fries! I’m gluten-free and I had no problem finding some great menu items and ciders to enjoy.
Service: This was my biggest issue, any time we needed something, we had to make eye contact from across the bar/flag down our server, who was talking to the bartender behind the counter every time. When I asked for a box for my food, the server brought it and cleared our plates, but left without asking if we were ready for the check and never came back, so we once again had to flag them down to ask for the check.
Menu: While there are great options, the descriptions were somewhat misleading, but that could just be me. I expected the sharable peppers to be small sharable-sized peppers for a group, but they ending up being 2 very large peppers that were super messy & difficult to cut. The Buffalo chicken dip we ordered was amazing, but it didn’t come with the dipping items listed on the menu and the chips broke upon touching it, which got very frustrating.
That being said, overall it’s a good place for drinks & food, just needs a few tweaks to really great.
