The only negative response would be the atmosphere. It’s definitely lacking but that easily gets ignored the moment you are face deep in a pho bowl. There was a tornado just miles away on the ground and raining like a hurricane outside and I barely noticed.
Last time I had broth like this was in Seattle. It was so good in Seattle, I ate two bowls and was miserable afterwards. This time was about the same. You know you got a good broth when you eat half the soup before adding all the fixings, especially the bean sprouts to cool it down, which I turn alters the flavor. I’ve eaten at nearly all the older pho restaurants around OKC and suburbs, and this little place has had the best broth yet. My second favorite to this is of course Pho Lien Hoa, another no frills atmosphere place lol
Another note worthy thing, is that I’m an adventurous eater and like all of the cow in my bowl. Flank, tendon, etc. it adds to that rich note worthy flavor. This time I was filling healthy and went with the veggies and tofu. That’s what surprised me the most with how good the broth tasted!
Now the only problem is after I’m done visiting in Purcell, I’ll have to drive all the way down here to scratch that itch.
The pricing is fair and not something that will break the bank. The proportions of the food adequately match the price.
The service was very attentive given the number of patrons inside. The building itself doesn’t lend to the quality of food but DO NOT let this deter you from great food!
Will definitely revisit City Phó!
I’m not a rookie, so I know this food is either going to be terrible or life-changing good.
Fortunately, it was the latter.
The pho broth tastes like it was seasoned with the very essence of God’s love.
The meat in the vermicelli bowl seems to have been charred with the fiery breath of flavor dragons.
After a bite of the chicken Lo mein, I’m pretty sure I connected with Buddha and found nirvana.
Even the water tasted sweeter than it should.
The spring rolls were spring rolls.
Unfortunately, this place is an hour away from where I live – but it should be a testament to its quality that I will find every excuse to make it back to this little haven of deliciousness.
