You simply must try the Wednesday beef tips special … the meat is perfectly cooked with a wonderful flavor, and the gravy has a deep rich flavor that you have to taste to believe. This is easily among the ten best things I have ever eaten, and a giant portion costs less than 10 dollars.

I have been dining there for years. The food is delicious and Mike and Stephanie are very polite and excellent cooks. Today the owner rudely told me I couldn’t bring any drinks with me that he could get in trouble with the health department. I told him I’ve been bring it for years with me and it was Lactaid. I spoke with Onondaga County Health Department and they said I would have to have a discussion with the owner when he was in a better mood. They said it didn’t pose a health risk bringing in my Lactaid milk. I was appalled the way I was spoken to today. I don’t think he heard a word I said when I told him it was Lactaid. Not once has he thanked me for my loyalty dining in his establishment. Vinny at Pavone’s Pizza, South Warren Street, is very good at this. Kudos to Mike and Stephanie. The new location on State Street is very clean but owner Cristo was very rude and walked away from me when I was explaining I was lactose intolerant and that’s why I had my Lactaid milk jug. Excellent food! I love the soup, and the salads are very large. I would definitely recommend City Hall Cafe to anyone. And pick up some olive oil while you’re there.

The soups are clumpy, too creamy, and little variety. I’ve tried all of the soups and the creamy broccoli is disgusting. The Gumbo they served me on a different occasion was cold and had zero flavor. The only thing this place is good for is the gyro. Very disappointed and will not return unless the soup changes and will be served hot food. Also if disappointed with your food don’t expect a refund or discount on different food option. This place in my opinion does not live up to its name.

City Hall Café has great daily specials and is reasonably-priced. They give you more than enough food and I have never been disappointed by a meal or soup that I’ve had from there. Great place for lunch!
